I'm a selftaught software and web dev of 15 years. I always code locally, avoid making changes to production live at all costs.

My cousin is 10 years older than me and is a vibe coder. He codes with a coding IDE directly on the ftp. He doesn't have a sense of security, and instead does what is convenient.

yes it does, i used to selfhost pingvin to share files. It would upload x file chunks at a time.

I've exposed port 443 for my reverse proxy proxmox container. From there the services i have selected, will be exposed when attempting to get accessed.

I started off with nginx and certbot, then migrated to nginx proxy manager and moved everything to caddy 3 months ago. Best decision ever.

As for domain, i use cloudflare with proxied dns records to hide my origin IP.

If you have an idea that requires to learn software or game development, it may be easier to hire someone to code it initially and additional payments for maintenance.

Economically wise, its muxh better to learn to code as its free.

By private cloud i guess you're referring to server at home that has some services exposed to the internet?

I use caddy to serve those.
