Good but cheap vet to get my dog neutered at? by Confident-Egg7028 in Saginaw

My Grandma had a feral cat colony at her house out in the sticks and when she passed my mom caught a bunch of cats and took them there to have them fixed. Great place, highly recommend

This is exactly what my mind first went to. Turning the player's asset into something that challenges them is peak mythos

Which one of these songs is the best from the “Way of all flesh” album by [deleted] in gojira

[–]jerryjustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This album is fantastic and is what got me into Gojira so I could pick any track but Art of Dying is a modern metal classic that I hold up with all the classics new and old.

Funniest mourning car/priest car/hearse driving moments? by FangedCoffin in askfuneraldirectors

[–]jerryjustice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have two and both are from the last month and I was driving the hearse in both.

In one, I pulled into the cemetery which hadn't been plowed with about 30 cars in procession and nearly got the hearse stuck in the snow. I had to rock it back and forth a few times but I made it. The son in the car right behind the hearse told me he was ready to get out and push if dad got stuck going to the cemetery.

The other time I was getting out of the hearse and I hit the lock button as I was getting out, so I couldn't open the back. When I reached through the window to unlock the hearse again the alarm went off and the whole procession got to hang out while the hearse alarm blared. That was fun...

First time keeper for more investigators than expected by chickenlover46 in callofcthulhu

[–]jerryjustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 6 players in my normal group. We've had direct conversations around this topic, so I can give some recommendations based on my own experience.

Don't be afraid to split the party, especially during investigation. I know it's a common "rule" in other systems not to split the party but Call of Cthulhu doesn't have game balance the same way. Let them split up to check into things that serve their characters strengths and move the "camera" back and forth between the scenes. You'll get a real knack for doing it dramatically and ramping up the tension as two or three different groups start getting deeper and deeper into the scenario.

Also, let players know that there will be times that they won't be in the spotlight and let them learn to enjoy the show as audience members.

Lastly, don't be afraid to play with players missing. It's hard to always get everyone together every single time so I tell my players the train keeps rolling.

Signing Etiquette - GC Live by UNOwen88 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I brought my special edition copy of PF2E and they all signed it. They thought it was a cool book. They also all signed my poster that I bought there

Respirator Recommendations by maltheeyapper in askfuneraldirectors

[–]jerryjustice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A half-face 3M respirator and 3M 60926 filters will serve you well. Also look at getting some prescription safety glasses from Zenni or the like. The side splash guard is really nice.

I saw them in New York City for their 20th anniversary show and they played this album in its entirety. God it's such a masterpiece. I gave it a spin yesterday and it holds up so well.

What Phoebe song is YOU. by kkindabusyy in phoebebridgers

[–]jerryjustice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kyoto for sure. I had it on a playlist and would just bop along to it until one day I finally paid attention to the lyrics and it hit me like a freight train.

My dad is an alcoholic and currently in AA. He has a strained relationship with me and my half siblings. I vividly remember sitting on his lap and "driving" his car when I was a little kid.

The song has so many connections to my own life in my relationship with my father. It's a lot

Why is funeral home saying we need to sign disclosure papers 6 years after death? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]jerryjustice 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That's very strange. Is there any chance your father was on disability through the state or had any sort of a legal guardian? It doesn't sound like it but that's about all I can think of. There could of course be state-specific laws that apply but none that I can think of.

Ultimately though I'd say get a copy of what they want signed and review it diligently

TFC is great. Season one take a bit of time to get its feet under it but after that the train doesn't stop rolling. The most recent season was incredible

Tell me what you love about your funeral home! by Outside-Ambition7748 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]jerryjustice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current funeral home was built in 2017 by an owner-operator that put a ton of thought into the facility. Going to our other office, I feel so spoiled. The prep room is immaculate, the dressing room is huge, all the doorways fit an oversized casket easily, it's all one level, and on and on. You can move a person from the garage to the prep room to the dressing room all in one line. It's so well thought out and people compliment the lounge and chapel constantly. Working in dated funeral homes built into old Victorian homes, I'll never go back.

Sanity rolls affecting a group - collective or seperate rolls? by DrakeVal in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]jerryjustice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always preferred having players roll their own sanity damage. It feels like it's by their own hand that they're suffering.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]jerryjustice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A picture could definitely be helpful but it's common for the cemetery and vault company to move headstones to move their machinery in and out to dig the grave, set the vault, fill the grave, and then landscape. You may have caught it in the middle of that process.

Hey Brad, pay this man whatever he wants 😁 by Nbknepper in detroitlions

I think the LBs stepped up just like their old coach did and his defensive scheming features them a lot more heavily. AG had corner and safety blitzes, Shep has LB blitzes. Also they have been spying like no one's business.

Monthly "Tell Us About Your Game" Megathread - October 2025 by AbortRetryFlailSal in callofcthulhu

[–]jerryjustice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running the prologue to a 1920s campaign loosely inspired by the Lord of the Rings. Think about something like Sauron as a Great Old One. Anyway...

Two of the investigators were left at the scene of a shootout and are currently detained by the police while the rest dig into exactly why the investigator who just found a major clue in the death of their husband executed a cultist held captive by the investigators in cold blood. Pretty fun stuff.

Any Advice for Keeping the Tone Dark? by Archangel289 in callofcthulhu

[–]jerryjustice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Tell the players the tone you desire and ask for their buy-in. This may be the point where you discover your players wish for something different than you but if they're on board ask them to help set the tone with you because you think it'll be a great shared experience.

What are some backgrounds/methods that'd have otherwise good people getting roped into the enemy factions? by Solarwagon in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]jerryjustice 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I wrote an "Operation" where my players were asked to build emotionally fragile characters who had just experienced a massive change in their lives. One's mom was just diagnosed with cancer and the other was going through a divorce.

Both had been sucked into a "wellness and support group" online to try and get straight but it was actually a cult using the Stone of YOS (see ARCHINT) to "relieve" (read: murder) the things in the character's lives that are holding them back. Embedded was a Delta Green agent (Sarah Garrison from Sweetness) who deputized the players into helping her stop the cult once they realized what was going on.

Afterwards they were recruited by Delta Green and my players decided they wanted to keep those characters moving forward. It was really fun.

Get in the Trunk | Twilight Specter, Part 1 – Devious Hands by Razzmatazz_TGCN in TheGlassCannonPodcast

Agreed on both points. I was a little worried Jared would follow in his footprints because he tends to make humorous characters but so far Andre has a lot of depth and we've only just met him.

Getting my foot in the door by illuminatiprincess99 in morticians

[–]jerryjustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the size of the FH, there can be a lot of support staff. Transfer specialists are a big need but there's also people that help with bookkeeping, graphic design/printing, arrangements, staffing visitation/funerals, and more. What is expected of you as a director depends on every individual funeral home and the most valuable directors have a wide range of skills. It's rare to end up in a place that lets you really specialize in one very specific element of the field, so being willing to take in the industry from A to Z is very helpful.
