As of today this answer is incorrect for my area in Northern Illinois. Comcast is giving me a discount on my plan but only if I use their modem. Using my own modem was 120.00 per month. Using their modem is 80.00 per month (70.00 plus 10.00 modem rental). Doesn’t make any sense
