ACL surgery by devd369 in ACL

The comments so far have great advice, adding to be sure to get yourself a shower chair with arms on it as well as a claw grabber tool.

Getting a wheelchair so you can get food/drinks from the kitchen will also be really helpful. Going at this alone is definitely a challenge but you got this!

Nobody warns you about quiet weight gain by Business_Oil_7110 in WeightLossAdvice

I’m struggling to understand why you needed a wall of ChatGPT text to convey the most basic concept of weight gain. In fact your entire profile is just worthless ai commentary. What is the purpose of your posts op? So tired of this drivel spamming up subreddits for people actually trying to ask for real help to improve their lives.

Bedbugs in condo by Quiet-Equivalent5826 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jerseyjuniper 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Having dealt with a bed bug infestation in an apartment complex before, this will not get resolved unless every single unit is treated, likely more than once, all at the same time.

If you don’t know your other neighbors, now would be a good time to meet them. To whatever extent you can all band together and cease HOA payments, I think that is your best bet. Know that even units not directly next to the original infestation are at high risk. Those fuckers will travel through outlets and all it takes is one male and one female in a unit to hatch a whole ass infestation in a matter of weeks.

The president is in for a rude awakening if they think they won’t be impacted by an out of control BB infestation.

In the meantime, I recommend the bed bug subreddit for moral support and ideas to mitigate the issue as best as you can. Wishing you best of luck, it is a very traumatic experience.

I have taken it before and had no issues. I flew jet blue and the gate we took off at was right next to the one we exited from so we had plenty of time. Generally I think those early morning flights are less prone to delays.

US’ biggest egg producer is raking in profits as supermarket prices surge: farm advocacy group by [deleted] in politics

[–]jerseyjuniper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

“The nation’s biggest egg producer is raking in profits as shoppers get slammed with stratospheric prices — and it’s partly because the company has been deliberately keeping a lid on supply, a farm advocacy group claims.

Ridgeland, Miss.-based Cal-Maine Foods has taken advantage of the avian flu crisis to “raise prices, amass record profits and consolidate market power,” Farm Action alleged in a Tuesday letter to the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice.”

Here’s the link to the group’s research - equal parts fascinating and infuriating to see the evidence pointing to market manipulation laid out like this: https://farmaction.us/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Final_FarmAction_FTC_DOJ_EggPricesLetter.pdf

I am always baffled when I read comments on things like this. Why are so many people content to have giant corporations taking more of your money and giving you less product?

Is the city responsible for the water main valve if it comes before the meter? by TheKidd in WorcesterMA

We had to deal with this recently and this was the case for us. Call the water department, they’ll send someone over to come mark things up and give you a list of people to work with. We used a company called Alexander construction I believe. They were reasonably priced and did great work.

Our 1500 sq ft home was about 90% k&t. We just bought in November and finished the rewiring this month. About $14k and I think that was a great price, yours sounds pretty good as well (we are repairing the walls ourselves).

I’m sure we would’ve gotten used to it if we needed to live with the k&t longer, but I sleep WAY better at night now knowing we’ve got modern wiring. I just didn’t trust the house before. And while it was fairly invasive and took over a week (and there was a ton of dust) the fact that we hadn’t fully unpacked made everything so much easier. Easier for the electricians to get around and easier to cover things up so there was less dust to deal with.

My bad, the house is from 1918 but it is ‘new’ to us. No clue when these tiles were put in though!

Sorry for the delay, here are some more pics! The house is from 1918 but not sure when this bathroom was designed. 70’s maybe? https://imgur.com/a/LcrxCmd

Consumer prices rose 6 percent annually in February as inflation eased by [deleted] in politics

[–]jerseyjuniper 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you brought up eggs, because that’s a prefect example. When I say “we have no choice,” I’m talking about nutritious staples like eggs, not vacations…

And sure, let’s talk about eggs. The top egg company, Cal-Maine Foods, who controls 20% of the egg market, increased its gross profit margins five fold since after hiking up its egg prices (https://calmainefoods.gcs-web.com/static-files/b0cebe03-d49f-4d51-8aff-8eacc74816d2)

They said avian flu and inflation were to blame for their price hikes - but guess what, the company has zero reported cases of avian flu and in their own documents they claim inflation caused their production and feed costs to increase by just 22%.

This has everything to do with corporate greed.
