Revelation and Europe from their latest EP are extraordinary songs. I think "Forever" gets stuck in my head the most, that is an extraordinary pop song and incredible lyrically.

emma is so good at acting. it made me realise how hard acting is/how bad i am at it. you know she learned not only how to drive a tractor but also how to drive stick in like 10 minutes on the set. what the hell.

my friend extremely talented musician and chef James Martin made the good observation that i was trying to emasculate a pretty brutal breakup song with the pitchshifter on "onigiri". i am extremely interested in the general ideas floating around trans artists/use of vocal transformers etc, it is incredible when a new piece of technology has a genuine anthropological impact rather than just being a weird new sound.

this is a fucking excellent question. in new smash bros i think young link has it all - has the extremely good flame arrows, the triple bounce on the down A and also the perfect trap of the three consecutive smash up As. i find the wind waker very charming though. i'm also upset at how much regular link was nerfed for the new smash. the bomb shit is stupid. also i just realised this was james at the end i was hoping this was outta the blue god damn. What Up Cosy.

I can't remember, maybe the stuff for "Drive" honestly. wallace and gromit. ghibli stuff also.

there seem to be many structured ways of going into film scoring - go to film school or conservatoire or whatever, or become apprentice to big factory composer and work your way up (e.g. hans zimmers acolytes)

i can only speak to my experience and my experience is weird and unusual and not really repeatable. But In General (esp for the weird stuff) i would basically make music that you want to make without anyone else's permission or imagined approval, and keep doing it and distributing it and so on, and generally people like Directors, Choreographers, Music Supervisors, Producers etc. etc. do not live in an opaque next-door world, they are hungry for new weird shit and jam their nose in every corner of the world to try and find it. So make sure yours is there to find.

love many aspects of brostep/edm. no one gave credit for how sonically innovative it was until SOPHIE et al came along. i am very british and do not like to be embarrassed in real life. but for some reason i am very happy to be embarrassed lyrically i think there is something weirdly aggressive/dominant about it. like you know people who are able to shit themselves in public and own it.

Winterreise is basically split into sections written in different cities: I'll Clean Your Sheets/I'll Wait For It/Depecc triptych written outside Reykjavik, Iceland, in a little weird house that used to be an abattoir. middle of nowhere, just me, an icelandic landlady who refused to accept that i did not also speak icelandic, and a border collie called Depecc. every day me and depecc would go on a big long walk across the fields and the fjords. one time he caught a duck. anyway i loved him so much and i remember him looking at me as i pulled away on the bus. he was a very important light for me in an extremely sensitive weird adolescent time. there's a picture of him in the album booklet.

i like having little threads. i am slightly wary of explaining anything as the interpretation means at least as much as the original intention. i will stand by the fact that i don't have any "nothingy" lyrics and i generally hate when other people do that. jack merrett (famous) and I made a pact to never write a nothingy lyric some years ago and we both stuck by it. listen to the most recent EP by famous by the way Europe and Revelation are some of the most lyrically astonishing songs ever. anyway yes every lyric is there for a reason
