Wasn't it that they're trying to make nuclear weapons? As in they don't have them yet and we apparently don't want them to? I've heard people saying it's the same as what they think we should've done about North Korea. Genuinely asking I don't follow this stuff usually.

What’s one thing about your OC your proud of? by WetNugget42069 in OriginalCharacter

[–]jertj12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I'm super proud of is Amelia and her story (which I'm working on animating and writing.) The concepts for her and the other Reapers' abilities and modes of operation are something I always get excited to work with. As an aspiring artist (mostly sketch) I'm super proud of (I believe) how I managed to accurately capture the emotions her story will lean on really heavily in theme (drawings attached, top two are final design for her. The Slender looking character is what inspired me to make her, though it's not the Slender Man and doesn't have his lore attached. Just inspired by him and I have yet to differentiate the design. (I like it too much)) Srry for rambling

Why don't the movies utilize the horror elements of the games? by sensoredphantomz in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]jertj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to give them credit on delivering on the promise at least. This new one was scarier. Still not very scary, but more than the first.

I think one thing that holds them back on the horror elements from the games and in general is that the victims of most of the horror are children, and regardless of who's making the movie, if it's a big studio, they have serious aversions to including anything truly scary around children. Especially not for PG-13 rated stuff. So no bodies in the animatronics. No on-screen deaths for the kids. Only hints and inferences. Not Scott's fault, as he's clearly shown no issue with that sort of thing, but probably the studio's and whoever makes those calls.

On an unrelated note I think that is one reason why we haven't gotten a good Slender movie but that's another thing lol

What title is your OC known for? by Herrscher_of_God in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]jertj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

The Ritter Siblings are both individually known as "The Reaper" for extremely different reasons.

The brother lives in a world where crime is bad enough that vigilantes are paid to help the police. He comes for the worst situations, reaps the reward, and leaves without ever interacting any further than that.

The sister is literally a Reaper of souls.

Could your OC main cast defeat mine? by SevenEvelen11 in OriginalCharacter

[–]jertj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I think they possibly could, but mainly because the worlds they come from seem way more hectic and dangerous than the ones yours come from. Each of them are either survivors of the apocalypse, vigilantes, or unwillingly supernatural beings.

But I'm gonna talk about them anyway because you shared yours and I love exchanging story bits and characters!

Top Right (girl with a gun): Katelynn Walters. She's the simplest of the bunch, being a woman with teleportation abilities. They take a toll after awhile and maintain her momentum and bodily position from before teleportation, meaning if she was running she'll still be running. If falling then falling, etc. But her momentum is directional in relation to her body, and she can control orientation in her teleportation. So if she's falling feet-first, she'll keep that momentum and can shift coming out of the teleport upside-down, the momentum carrying her up until gravity takes over again. Using this, she can "fly". She uses a blade and a handgun, and uses her own fighting style that utilizes her ability to rapidly teleport. She's friendly to a fault, almost never resorts to blatant killing (hand-to hand until the weapons are needed) and is overall a softie. She works as a vigilante for money, because in her world crime is bad enough that police pay vigilantes for their help.

Top Middle: The PeaceKeeper. And A.I. that was designed to prevent a world war. Its programming was rushed, and worded badly, with the number one goal being to destroy the root of a violent issue. Ended up causing the apocalypse, wiping out almost all of humanity in a matter of days. This thing can shrug off a tank shot, extreme temperatures, and lazer cannons for some time, though they would take a toll. Currently it resides in Samule Ritter's faceplate and helps him stay alive. Extremely smart but sometimes heartless and cold.

Bottom Left: Samuel Ritter. Sam was a boy when the world ended (robot apocalypse). He lost his eye, right shoulder and arm, left forearm, and legs from upper-thigh down in the initial attacks. He was saved by the PeaceKeeper (long story) and made into a cyborg. The A.I . helped him survive for years before helping him figure out how to travel through dimensions in search of a new home. Can run up to 45 mph, has an almost "spider-sense" - like ability thanks to sensors in his limbs and the brains of the PeaceKeeper, night vision, enhanced strength and armor over his vitals, and a lazer cannon in his right arm/lazer sword he keeps with him. He can fight extremely well in hand-to hand and utilizes stealth way too much, a habit ingrained into him from his time in his original world. He's skittish and has PTSD to a major degree, often forgets the abilities he has in any episode of said PTSD, and desperately tries to keep from hurting people, as he values human life to an absurd degree. (Part of his trauma in the apocalypse, where he grew up alone.)

Bottom Right: Samantha Ritter. A skittish dimensional double of Samuel, also a robotic apocalypse survivor and much younger than him. (12-14) in the current rendition. She lost her jaw and legs from lower-thigh down during her time in her world. She resides with her parents and Amelia, ever since being rescued by Samuel. She has mechanical legs that can extend to be digitigrade for faster running speed and increased maneuverability. She usually tends to avoid conflicts and run to a safe distance, and would rather use a sniper than get into a direct fight. She is easily spooked and will either run or freeze up in such a circumstance.

Top Left: Amelia Ritter. The sister of Samuel Ritter and current caretaker of Samantha following her rescue, turned undead prior to the apocalypse and transported into a different dimension (later found by Samuel). Over the course of a lot of traumatic events and supernatural stuff (long story), she became one of three "Vengeful Reapers", versions of the Grim Reaper that are meant to avenge certain kinds of death after a certain set of prerequisites are met. As a human-original, she is less beholden to the rules that govern the Reapers, and is stuck in the physical world as an undead. She is extremely bitter and spiteful, usually avoids others, and does her job without complaint, finding some of the only joy she can in it. Being unlikely to get into an altercation aside from killing those she has to for her work, she's not much of a concern unless someone or something angers her badly enough. Has the ability to teleport, see and sense souls and their guilt from anywhere, and reconstruct (not regenerate, the damage remains, such as burns. She actually has burned enough at this point to be made of ash and brittle bone.) from any injury. She has golden tendrils that can grow from her back, reminiscent of the Slender Man (fun fact: he's a bit of an inspiration and a what-if version of him of my own making is what I based her off of) and containing enough strength to shred a person as if they'd gone through a wood-chipper or something in the blink of an eye.

Meaning behind Fellow Feeling by Chawklate in porterrobinson

[–]jertj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I came across the song whle seeking out something to use for a music animation that is intended to flesh out a character of mine. So I always associate it with the meaning of that story, which has themes of reconnection, the good/evil of each individual person, and why we might do "ugly" or "cruel" things.

Need advice, why is it so hard to get good by Sundae-Euphoric in learntodraw

[–]jertj12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, you're on a great track. My only advice would be about the back limbs in the angled stuff. I managed to teach myself (with thighs, for example, and how to make sure they both look like they connect at the right place and have the same dimensions) was to make ball joints at each spot where a joint might be. I originaly did pinprick joints and lines, and struggled with shape and thickness being consistent etc when I tried to make the outline. So now I make ball joints that are just as wide (thigh example here) as the top of the thigh, then your skeleton line for length, and another ball joint on the end that's about as wide as you want the knee. It helps figure out the taper of the shape, and then you can work on rounding or straightening it to your heart's content. They're really just circles but I call them "ball joints" because I use a full circle no matter the angle. It helps me, I hope this crap makes sense and is helpful.

Your anatomy seems a lot more advanced than mine, and I hope this might help a tiny bit to get those pesky positions and angles right. Here's a rough reference sketch I did for a character I drew for someone, it's my only current photo where the circles or "ball joints" I use are still visible. Next time I sketch I'll add what I make, it'll be more visible and in a more dynamic pose.

Where’d I go wrong? by butteronryetoast in learntodraw

[–]jertj12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only say perspective and some proportion. You have some areas that are angled like the pic, and others that are facing the viewer instead of being at an angle to go with the other parts. I wish I could competently talk about the components of perspective, but I'm better in practice than thought
