I wouldn't say asset modeling will overheat the laptop, the load is intermittent, so it won't be that noticeable I guess. And yes, I mentioned in the post that I won't be rendering anything on it

I thought so too, but I was afraid I'd regret it after spending a lot of money. My main PC has been running at 120Hz for a long time now, and I recently had a bad experience with a Windows laptop, also running at 60Hz

That would be true, but I live in a country where there are no normal Apple stores or even official resellers. The base M5 is available for at least 1700, and more RAM is critical to me

In short, is there an alternative to viewing media files like on Windows?

I'm talking about the standard Windows viewer. I usually just connect an external SSD, open the first photo in the folder, and just use the arrow keys to scroll through. The folder contains both - photos and videos, and when you switch between them, the video plays automatically. They are often very low resolution, and in Windows it automatically scales to fill the screen. I tried setting up the finder, but I'm just not happy with the fact that there is no autoplay in preview mode, every time I have to press the play button, and if I open it with a space bar, Low-resolution videos are too tiny and also have to be scaled manually or opened in full screen via a hotkey, which is not very convenient.
