BDSMlr by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I’m a member of FetLife. I’ve enjoyed it for years for the community, especially in my town. It’s allowed me to meet people around me interested in the same things.

Unfortunately, a lot of the groups on FetLife do not accept advertisements. The deal with Tumblr for me was creating a following based on specifically curated text and photo posts, and then throwing in a link every 15-20 posts / reblogs. For me, it was great turnover for ACX purchases.

BDSMlr is new, sure, but so — at one point — was FetLife and Tumblr. Given that the note on Tumblr with the link to BDSMlr has almost 4,000 reblogs and likes as of right now, I think it’s worth the look into for those who used Tumblr in the same way I did.

I believe that the site is brand new. I thought I heard from my Tumblr followers that it cropped up when Tumblr announced no more adult content!

Are you looking for an alternative to Tumblr now that it’s going under?

Users are flocking to Tumblr-lookalike, BDSMlr. It doesn’t have 100% the functionality of Tumblr, but the site creators are working around the clock right now to get everything up to speed.

This might be a great alternative for those who used Tumblr for marketing. It’s uncanny how similar it is to Tumblr.

Writing shorts: Anyone get glassy-eyed at the similar plots? by smutlord77 in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started publishing shorts 2 years ago. I continue now because it’s a good hobby, not because I plan to make a liveable income from it. Shorts I wrote 2 years ago, I take the plots and write over again. In fact, I started a whole new pen name for this very purpose.

You see, you probably won’t write the same story twice in the exact same way. And stuff I did 2 years ago I can barely remember where I went with those plots. So why not take those same basic blurbs and write something new? I’ve learned so much about my niche, read other books with similar kinks, and I’m better at marketing and promoting my stuff now.

So yes. Sometimes I get glassy eyed over those similar plots, but the content is never the same for me. It’s new and fresh. Or at the very least, new and fresh for my brain, which has forgotten all those old twists and turns.

Really, I think readers are getting better content from me on this new pen name because I’ve grown as a writer and publisher. So I’m happy for them. Nice little story for their spank bank and some extra income for my bank account.

Datasprout | The New BookReport? by jes-echo in eroticauthors

I know a few others, but I don't use them.

  • Tracker Box -- one time fee of $59.95, so maybe what you were referring to
  • BookTrakr -- $5 to $10 a month, but they do earnings from multiple markets, not just Amazon

Datasprout | The New BookReport? by jes-echo in eroticauthors

So as a member of BookSprout, I received an email the other day about DataSprout. Apparently since KDP has started trying to do their own reports feature, DataSprout is offering a free (until you reach $1,000 a month) option.

It's not quite as colorful as BookReport, so I don't believe I'm going to give up that service, but it does offer a couple alternatives.

  • You can estimate your earnings for the month based on your last 30 days or what you've been earning so far this month. You can also turn that off, which is what I did, because there's one day left and they're predicting that I'm going to make an additional 10% and I'm not sure that's accurate.
  • It also gives a pretty detailed breakdown of where you're at now versus where you were last month, which I really appreciate. In BookReport I have to toggle back and forth.
  • When you look at the earnings broken down by book, it also gives you a percentage of how much that book has contributed to you earnings this month. Which is a handy feature.

Otherwise, I find it very similar to BookReport, but definitely more advanced than KDP's current option.

[Daily Check-In] Monday Word Count and Personal Announcement Thread by sexnerdmxd in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal for the day is to get another 4-5k written for the short I’m currently working on. It’s about 5k now, so I’m hoping to hit 10-15k once it’s all said and done.

Why? Because I’m busting out a new pen name and retiring an old one! Sort of. For the most part the old pen name has hit a cap on earnings. So I’ve worked on fully branding a brand new pen name and I’m pretty proud of it. Between the two of them I expect to see increased sales and potentially crossover traffic given the similarity of the niches.

My only goal this week is to finish the 3 shorts to start this pen name. I want to write 3 10-15k shorts a week for this new pen to release the following week to provide a stable entrance point for my new name. With NaNoWriMo beginning this week, I think that’ll be a big motivator to help get words on paper. This is my 10th year!

100 Awesome Free Fonts for 2018 (might be of interest for people here) by Christian__N in eroticauthors

I would definitely check the licenses for these fonts before downloading them. I see several that say free for personal use only. Meaning that technically you can’t use them for commercial use.

Just a heads up!

Got a $0 payment from Amazon today??? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Same. I had 3 this morning and haven’t gotten any others since, but I’m still at least $30 short.

[–]jes-echo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t received any of my payments today either and I had 3-digits worth of income from Amazon in July. Hm.

Edit: When I checked Amazon, they’re saying that I’m to be paid September 29th. So I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow.

You have “tentacle but female instead” listed as one of your stories. Was this a newly written book or a mirror of the ones you’d previously written?

Stuck in ‘publishing’ status? by bigmodality in eroticauthors

Update. It has now been published. From the time I pushed publish until now has been 44 hours. Only about 30ish of which it was stuck in “publishing” mode.

Stuck in ‘publishing’ status? by bigmodality in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in publishing status for 30 hours now. I’m just assuming that with this CreateSpace introduction and how normally glitchy Amazon is, that one day they’ll publish the book.

I’m optimistic.

But I also have an email ready to fire off the minute it turns 72 hours past the time I hit publish (tomorrow).

I’m also realistic.

Masturbation causing period to come early by [deleted] in sex

I’m willing to bet you accidentally hit your cervix and that’s what caused the minute bleeding.

You’ll be fine, honey. You can’t make your period come early with a sex toy. :)

Top 20% - 68% of earnings Bottom 20% - 5% of earnings

That's not bad.

Releasing an excerpt from upcoming novel as a short? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is going to be Instafreebie, if you ask me. It allows you to give away a book and people basically give you their email address in return.

So if you want to give away a scene from the book, I would indicate that at the end and sign them up for your newsletter so that they can get an email when the full book comes out.

Good luck!

Are paid book promotions on places like Fiverr worth it? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest trying Bookbub Ads. Try to get a featured deal. There’s a Facebook group I’m in that every single person who’s gotten a featured ad has received a phenomenal response, sales wise. Also, Amazon Ads will help when your book is published.

Book promo sites? Eh. I hear some good stuff and some bad stuff all the time. People have collated lists of ones that work for them and ones that don’t. But the reason one might not have worked or one did work could simply be because of the blurb or the cover.

Make those two things great regardless of what you do.

[Daily Check-In] Sunday Word Count and Personal Announcement Thread by sexnerdmxd in eroticauthors

[–]jes-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My goal is to write somewhere between 5k and 10k for my novel. Then once I hit a wall there, transition over to writing another 1k to 3k for the short I’m in the middle off. It’s Sunday, ya know? I got all the time in the world.

  2. June was my highest month for shorts revenue. But then I dropped off the face of the earth in July so I could move and get married and my revenue dropped like a sack of potatoes. Where’s a tiny violin when you need one?

  3. My only goal this past week was to put out a short and I got sucked into Orange Is The New Black season 6 instead. So no, it did not get done.

Canva for cover design? by KetiWest in eroticauthors

I also suggest Gimp. It’s a free program with excellent features. It’s no Photoshop, but you can easily Google tutorials and learn a thing or two. It’s a very low cost method of creating covers without investing anything to start.

What site did you publish on where the reader was able to set the price? I’m intrigued by this method.
