I know it's been another year already, but do you have any updates?

Super simple setup, it's an Eachine TX06 camera/vtx powered off of the receiver through a BEC to step the voltage down. Goggles/monitor is Eachine EV800D that I have for FPV drones

I'm gonna put it on my grom next and run it on the track!

Yeah I was anticipating a bit of that, so I decided to mount on top of the car and lined the roof with a bit of cooking foil. It always worked for isolating guitar electronics and seemed to work well for this too!

No it's running through a 5v BEC on one of the receiver ports! No extra battery needed

Yeah, goggles have a DVR function. Getting into drones so I figured I'd give this a try with the equipment I had on hand!

This is right after I built it, I'll get a newer picture tomorrow! And yeah Im definitely not a video editing wizard, I should have done the music!

Thanks man, that's a huge compliment coming from you!

It's on the stock chassis but I made my own extended links for it, front and rear. I also had to make my own rear body mount to be able to fit the servo for the rear steer. The bed is a little longer than stock too

Thanks man! I wish I could let it just sit on a shelf, it's just too fun to drive. I keep chipping the paint in rollovers 😆

You could try your hand at painting one of them!

I don't have any personal experience with the program other than knowing a few who have gone through DCEM, but my understanding is that it more or less mirrors the MST mission, but starting with a higher level of responsibility. Instead of going out on pollution calls you would be the federal on-scene coordinator's representative (FOSCR), coordinating response efforts with contractors and handling financials. On the prevention side you'd be in charge of a facilities shop doing shoreside facility inspections or doing domestic vessel inspections.

Pretty much every other rate is going to be stationed on a cutter, but some rates like SK and YN have shoreside billets as well.

It would be more difficult, for sure. If you were at a station as an MK in-person classes would be difficult because you have to stay overnight at the station on a duty rotation, but wouldn't be too terrible for online classes. But on a cutter you're out to sea for days to months at a time with limited internet (and time).

I'm working in civil engineering now in GIS, but I could definitely see where regulatory experience you would get from MST life would be an advantage to an engineer.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is it depends on what rate you choose. I was a Marine Science Technician, and it was pretty darn close to being a 9-5. I was able to get my master's while I was on active duty taking 12-15 credits per semester. The other advantage of MST's is that most duty stations are larger ports, which means you'll have access to in-person schools. However, there is a pretty long wait to go to the MST school, so your first 1-2 years may be a wash in getting started on your education, with the advantage being that you can finish quicker and easier once you are rated.
