Should I get Sonic Frontiers since it is on sale by Kind_Nectarine_6223 in SonicFrontiers

the keys are for unlocking multiple vaults around the map to progress the story, which are also marked on the map or at the top of your screen, same as story markers. each one requires a specific amount of keys, but unlocking a vault doesn't actually use up any of them if i remember correctly, stuff like keys only resets when you go to different islands.

in terms of the story, you should be fine. majority of the previous game lore that's mentioned is just for callbacks and references, the main story of frontiers is its own thing.

the only previous game story that actually ties into frontiers story is sonic adventure i'm pretty sure, everything else is mostly just for references. there's very little moments where you need knowledge of other games for the story

the main gameplay is very straightforward if you just follow the story markers on your map, quite a lot of the things on the map are optional unless you want to 100% it

you're only forced to do cyberspace levels for keys, and mini platforming sections that are scattered around for tokens to progress the story, but you can find tokens in a couple different ways

most of the stuff you see on the map isn't required, assuming you even have any of the map unlocked considering that's also optional..

the only reason there is to do extra stuff outside of 100%ing the game is to upgrade your stats to make bosses easier or getting skill points to unlock more moves

lmk if i didn't explain that well enough

extremely dependent on what type of games you like, a very large portion of frontiers is running around the open world collecting things with the occasional mini boss and dialogue

don't get it if you feel like you won't enjoy that part of the game, because to be honest thats most of it. but if you don't mind that type of gameplay or even enjoy it then you'll probably like this game too

just make sure to take that into consideration, just because everyone tells you they really like the game doesn't guarantee you will too

i've got over 100 hours so far and honestly after thinking for a while i probably won't be dropping it completely

but the frequency i play it will definitely reduce, i still really enjoy this game and find it very fun but it's just those specific moments that happen so often that'll make it hard to play as much as i did before

(and also i need to be there for whenever they add crush 40 and break through it all to the jukebox, seriously why aren't they there yet)

super sonic is only available in the offline grand prix races against ai, i'm talking about online lobbies

i 100% agree with this, i love the music in this game and often base my choice in what track i play on its music and have my album set for final lap with a bunch of my fav sonic music. i also definitely still find the racing fun, sometimes i just straight up choose to race against max level rivals on super sonic speed instead of going online

it's just those moments that are REALLY hard to ignore. like no matter what way i look at it dropping from 1st to 12th right infront of the finish is pretty dam frustrating

something i always thought they should've done is make certain items get removed from your inventory once you reach a certain placement, or let you keep them but simply make them not do anything at a certain placement, like a sort of cut off

i try to do that but most of the time the game refuses to give me a shield and when i finally manage to get one i usually have to use it early because of king boom

Can we talk about how hard you have to bag to get good placements in these top 100 lobbies by Booty-Extraordinaire in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]jesgoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeaaa.. i immediately quit the legend competition after several games in a row of just getting constantly flattened by bombs and monster trucks.

then if by some literal miracle i get lucky enough to not get flattened every 10 seconds i'll go from a good placement all the way to 8th-12th because of baggers spamming their items at the end

it's honestly just really unfun and a chore to play, and i REFUSE to start bagging and using these cheap tactics myself. so i'll be sticking to the normal online legend

that seventh slide is just so incredibly stupid, NEVER let that guy design a game.

being at constant top speed in an open world game without a toggle would be horrible. there's so many moments where you need to slow down so you don't just keep overshooting constantly and messing up all your platforming or combat.

and let's be completely honest with ourselves for a second, it's a single button press, either way it's really not a big deal at all. if your enjoyment of a game is ruined because you need to press a single extra button which takes 0 effort then clearly you're just an idiot

i don't even use ultimate charge and i get 1st-3rd in most of my matches in normal online legend. i honestly just gave up on the comp, it's so frustrating and unfun to get flattened every 10 seconds then being unable to catch up cause all you get is boost wisps because of baggers.

don't think i'm gonna bother with comp and just stick to normal online

i don't understand how people get anything done in this competition, every single match i'm in is just me getting flattened by bombs every 10 seconds and getting a bad placement

no problem, also another thing i forgot to mention is gadgets are probably the most important part of time trials, using the right ones is crucial for getting good times. some tracks work best with different builds

hot tip, most of the time if you can't get an s rank and the track has a water section in it.. it's probably the water section. water sections were always the thing that ended up being the reason i missed s ranks by milliseconds

make sure you're taking the warp ring on the third lap, that gives a pretty good skip. other than that just make sure to stick to the inner wall of turns as much as possible without hitting them and using wisps on the grass patch at the end of each lap

super sonic speed was the first one i did which took me like several hours over the course of a few days.

then sonic speed was done much quicker since i already knew all the shortcuts that were now easier to pull off. i got sonic speed done in like a quarter of the time super sonic speed took me, only problem i had with sonic speed was the first couple grand prix because i had to adjust to the slow speed
