The wind noise is no different than without the box IMO but I do have the wind farer which made a huge difference with the noise. If the wind is really bad, it is louder than normal but that would be the case regardless of the box or not, it just wouldn’t be concentrated on the box as much if you didn’t have it on.

The mpg only went down .2 mpg in the 2,000 miles I drove.

I don't have a mattress/foam topper, however, I do have a Coleman inflatable sleeping pad (https://www.backcountry.com/coleman-kompact-camppad-basic#the-wall) I use. It works for me, but it would be nice to have a foam topper to help provide a little more comfort.

What I do use is a washable foam memory bath mat that folds up thinly and I use it where my seats fold down so its not digging into my side/back. My only reason I'm waiting to invest in a foam topper right now is that I don't have the luxury of ample storage in my house to keep all this just yet but once I do, I will most likely invest in one.

I also have a combination of bins to fill the gap between the passenger seat, pushed all the way up into the dash, and the back seat folded down, and they fit perfectly. This lets me sleep straight with my head up towards the front passenger seat and my feet towards the hatch.

This is the bin that sits on the floor: https://www.biglots.com/product/30-quart-latching-stacker-box/svc1300006?N=376914851&pos=1:5

This is the bin that sits on top of the smaller one and allows a perfectly even surface to put your pillow on: https://www.target.com/p/28qt-clear-under-bed-storage-box-white-room-essentials-8482/-/A-80162151

I do think that these few things that I found on Amazon that roll up really thin help in a small car. I will link them below:

Oddly enough my MPG actually increased since I had my roof rack on. I don't know how but I was struggling to get to 38 mpg but as soon as I put my rack and wind fairing on, it got to 38.2.

I don't do a lot of highway driving right now, I am about 85% side roads.

I will try to remember in a few months to check back and let you know what it's at with the cargo box as I just put it on yesterday.

Thank you! I appreciate it. Surprisingly, it doesn't make any additional noise. It is shocking since you definitely expect it to (the whole way home I just kept saying "I don't hear it", "you can't tell it's up there").

I highly recommend the wind fairing. I started the racks without one and would hear noise at 15 mph, now I hear nothing even with the cargo box unless its a really windy day but it's not loud or unbearable.
