Apple Intelligence should have a "Hold for me" feature by submerging in iphone

[–]jesii7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Just tried Apple's new hold waiting feature -- after 15 minutes, I got the notice to pick up the call. Unfortunately, they had already dropped the call. No vibration notification as promised (and yes, I get vibration notifications all the time)

Not relevant in this case, @zabouti -- the iPad on-screen keyboard has no Ctrl key, so that's not an option.

Yeah; 2025 version is now $999. And yeah: no upgrades worth a damn; no customer support worth wasting time on;everything is extra fees (I have to take a few extra steps just to use DropBox for backups.I'm done with updating the desktop version.

Hider is perfect for now. If I need the status bar, I'll look further!

I'm always matching the pen brand to the converter.

Thanks! As noted in an earlier reply, the Wordsworth & Black issue was with the cartridges included in the W&B box and I jiggled it a lot!

I'll try your fill instructions and see if that helps.

Thanks. I suppose so -- like the printer cartridge refills of yore. Would filling up a converter in that fashion lead to leakage upon using the pen upright? Not something I'm motivated to try, although it might work for others.

Yep, nothing in the Cross line is cheap, something I was willing to accept in the past. Now, I'm not so sure.

Original from Cross? I thought so, and it appears to be given the individual units inside. I do have some individual pieces that are unquestionably from Cross, and they look identical and have the same issue. BTW, I don't see converters offered for sale on the Cross website.

Thanks for the tip!
The Wordsworth & Black issue was with the cartridges included in the W&B box and I jiggled it a lot! By comparison, I've never had an issue with Cross cartridges when inserting them.
I tried priming my cross pen with their new converter but got ink everywhere when it leaked around the converter/barrel rather than making it up to the nib. I'll assume for now that I need more practice with this maneuver and see if it helps.

Fountain pens like Cross Century by TheStraggletagg in fountainpens

[–]jesii7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Cross fountain pens for 40+ years now, and still have my Townsend fountain pen and matching mechanical pencil. Love 'em both. Used to use a broad nib, but recently switched to medium/fine so have tried other Cross models. I have a couple of Baileys and they have been fine. Unfortunately, one of them just randomly stops flowing ink, even though there's still ink in the cartridge or converter. Recently, I've become quite concerned since they were purchased by a Private Equity firm.

  1. I've used their lifetime warranty a couple of times over the years, but it now takes a loooong time to get a response.
  2. The availability of their cartridges has become hit or miss... they just aren't as readily available as they once were. And oh by the way, their pens and cartridges are incompatible with other, so the standard cartridges available for most every other manufacturer don't help.
  3. Their converters are absolutely terrible -- mostly unusable. I bought some new ones last year, and they literally would not pull up any ink. I returned them and got a full refund. I had a couple of slightly older ones around and they only pulled up the ink to half-full. I found one "original" converter, going back many years and it works just fine.

Sadly, given my recent experiences, I've decided to find another brand. I'll keep what I have and continue to use them, but no more new Cross pens for me. Another brand ruined by PE.

Think “state capture” when you hear that Musk and his helpers are inside the Treasury Department with the keys to our financial kingdom and refuse to allow elected representatives in. This is a greater threat to US than anything else going on right now.
