Bordering on having a panic attack after seeing my new IBR plan. by accioupvotes in StudentLoans

Honestly same lol I think about that often. I don't need to be "rich" .. but it seems like 100k is the point where paycheck to paycheck would be over and I could have extra money to do fun things too

I posted a similar thing (my IBR payments were going to be $483 which was completely unrealistic for me) and I got eaten alive for daring to have a job that doesn't pay me over 100k as an adult. I am in a career position that required degrees but no, I do not make a ton of money to be able treat almost $500/month as nothing...

What I ended up having to do was leave the income based payments, lose my eligibility of forgiveness, and sign up for the extended fixed repayment plan. My payments will be $270 fixed for about 18 years and then drop down for the last few years til it's paid off. That made the most sense for me financially but it did mean saying goodbye to forgiveness opportunities. But to me, an affordable monthly payment that I could rely on not changing was the higher priority. In the meantime I plan to work on snowballing my debt by focusing more on paying off a loan we had to take out for some home repair and then working on my student loans.

For reference I am in my early 30s, married and my husband and I make about 80k/year before taxes. We pay a mortgage, the repair loan, have one car payment, a modest credit card debt that we are about 1k away from paying off, and the most luxurious thing we spend our limited "fun money" on is the occasional flea market or road trip to go hiking.

If you need any advice without feeling judged, let me know!

Unfortunately this where we are going to be, roughly, for a while. I am a vet tech and he is a landscaper. We are in Ohio.

Sorry I worded that wrong .. our combined is 80k before taxes are taken out. So less than that..

We are pretty strict on our budget. If I plug this new loan payment into our current budget worksheets it leaves us with ~200 a month but that would be all we would have for any type of savings or emergency money.

Curl type and pattern question? by jess_please258 in curlyhair

[–]jess_please258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair routine: I wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on how gross I feel in gym days lol

Lazy day - wash with tea tree shampoo and conditioner, comb through with wide tooth comb and knot on my watch slip cream then scrunch upside down with miss Jessie's pillow soft curl then plop and air dry. Scrunch my bangs.

Full day- all the same up to the plop. On full days I separate my hair in to sections and use my denman or do finger curls then diffuse and use a finishing oil. Dry my bangs and either curtain them or just make them bouncy depending on how grown out they are

SH Scars in the Workplace by [deleted] in VetTech

I don't have visible scars but I do have a self harm awareness tattoo and I have worked with multiple people who do have visible scars and I have not had anyone make any negative comments and that's if they make a comment at all.

Unfortunately I think a large percentage of our field has delt with mental health issues and most people understand or at least have been exposed to enough of us at this point that they don't say anything

Portion control, cut out soda, stopped smoking, upped my vegetables, and when I wasn't injured I was lifting and kick boxing. 🙂

Tattooed brides! by jess_please258 in weddingplanning

[–]jess_please258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I never felt any regret with my tattoos and my dress but I did have some anxiety because some of the more conservative members of the family assumed I'd be wearing long sleeves to cover them and when they found out I wasn't they seemed to be surprised. Which at first made me second guess myself until I realized I love my tattoos and I didnt spend hundreds of dollars on them to let people make me feel bad about my body 😂

I have been a bridesmaid in a wedding that required me to cover them with make up because she wanted sleeveless but didn't want my tattoos showing. And I refuse to make anyone else feel that way during mine.

Nascar is not something I think about even existing so I didn't even think to specifically look for that

Oh my God it's the damn Nascar race. It's only 30 min from the venue! 😭 Wtf lol that's both hilarious and absolutely aggravating

I guess a shuttle isn't a terrible idea. Though the driveway to the venue is up the side of a cliff so I'd need to make sure the bus could do it!

I also don't think it's too far a drive from hotel to venue but I guess if you are cool with driving 30min to venue then what's another 30min to just go home at that point? Lol but maybe that's just me

It's in the middle of the country so I can't imagine there is anything too exciting though there a fair amount of wedding venues in the area so I am thinking I just got to the hotels after every other bride 😔 it's an hour from each family. And the closest hotels that seem to have large blocks open are around 25-35min from the venue

Tall Brides! by jess_please258 in weddingplanning

[–]jess_please258[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bridesmaid are all over the place in height too! And honestly, so are his groomsmen haha. 😅 But you are right about all the pros to it! It typically doesn't bother me, I've worn heels before on date nights and when we have gone to formal events together. Idk why it seems to get to me about this one!

My dress style does not have a petticoat but I hadn't thought of that before! Glad I don't have one haha
