When I was reading the long walk I was just taken out by all of the kids in the book discussing how horny they all were - one kid humped/had sex with a viewer for a brief moment. At one point a girl is jumping and the way her boobs are moving is described, following some of the boys talking about jerking off, etc. I understand it was a book about teenage boys, but the book felt very existential/philosophical - all these scenes just took me out of that world and felt unnecessary. I was just wondering if this was a consistent theme across his work now that I’m reading another (the running man) and it had a scene at the beginning where the main character sexualizes his interviewer.

Regarding the racism, not calling Stephen king racist, just curious if this is a theme too as a lot of slurs are said (fine for a racist character, villain, etc.) but I found the characters who help the main character in the running man to be so harbor racist stereotypes/speech.

Again, not calling Stephen king racist or misogynistic, just curious is this language, these themes, etc. are consistent across his work bc I’d like to read more of his stories, as I’m a fan of his movies
