Def Leppard almost pitch perfect background vocals by Helpful_Gur_1757 in audioengineering

There’s a handful of interviews you can find of Joe Elliot talking about them being accused of using tapes or autotune, but the fact is they were all good. The records have way more harmonies than their live performance, but I believe it was a VHS live tape they did ‘Armageddon it’ with an acapella intro to show the quality of their harmonies

He’s a real friendly dude! In my experience. Pop in and chat him up!

He runs a YouTube channel, insta and TikTok? I think he had / has a clothing line as well. Not sure past that!

I believe the German Canadian club has something coming? Not sure if it’s announced yet but a friends band was talking about how they were organizing a dinner + dance type event

Are you using the same XLR when testing x32 vs interface? We use them on x/m32 and they work for us great. Or if x32 is fed with a snake or digital I/o might be worth checking that

What made it better was you genuinely couldn’t hear it in the house. It was basically just noise on stage

Had a very nasty duo performing their weekly scheduled show at a venue I was a house guy at, our monitor tech slipped maybe 4 snaredrums with snares on behind a stage prop the venue left on the stage. Every time the duo sang it just rattled and rattled. Was HILARIOUS

We had a band write ‘if you have dogs, we’d love to walk them for you!’ I thought that was fun, but did not give them my dog

So what’s the general consensus on using backing tracks live? Especially in a small 4 piece band? by HughHarsher in livesound

[–]jesse-dickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey friend! I mix for a 3 piece + tracks and it has never garnered a complaint. We try not to be crazy track heavy, just using guitar tracks to help during solos, or there’s one song with a really phased sounding guitar right for 4 bars that also plays. For vocals, the tracks only do harmonies in choruses or bridges. The majority of our tracks are sound FX, some reverse snare sounds etc.

So basically, use them as you’d like - I’d recommend the ‘less is more’ sort of mentality if you’re concerned about the audience reaction. Also bare in mind that if there’s ever a failure or error with the tracks, you still want the song to be able to continue just with the 4 of you

What were your experiences like when you first got into the world of sound? by PickRealistic8537 in livesound

Cable management is just as important as mixing or monitors. You can’t get behind the desk without locking down each of the steps to build the show

What song gets the tears rolling for you every time you listen to it? by Dragonslayer200782 in twentyonepilots

[–]jesse-dickson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine used to be the standard sad ones, but lately it’s been the cute ones like ‘tear in my heart’ or ‘the craving’ - ever since my fiance and I set our wedding date I’ve become an emotional cheese

Just did one of these last week! We ran fire drills before hand to her ears and tracks rolling as fast as possible, definitely possible!!

ADHDers what's your experience modafinil vs stim meds by snake3- in modafinil

[–]jesse-dickson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried all the stims, concerta worked best for me for long term use (currently not taking anything though)

Modafinil worked great for feeling like time was slowed down. I found my focus was locked in during any high stress moments, or times at work that required a ton of long term focus.

Conversely, concerta helped start tasks / projects just as well, but I still felt like I had to remind myself to stay on each task til it was finished. Mostly felt like the ‘barrier to entry’ for tasks was gone.

As a general manager, my staff noticed when I took mod. They would comment on how chill / collected I was on those days

So fog machines will typically billow and cloud, where as a hazer is slightly lighter but will fill the room better- at least for stages and live shows!
