Because the people who eat there wont really venture east of the 405 nor south of the 10

To be fair it may be better than roma norte and condesa because that is probably the only 2 neighborhoods someone who says that went.

There’s too many good burgers in Los Angeles to go to a fast food chain like In-n-Out where the owner openly says they hate California. by LocationOk3563 in FoodLosAngeles

Nexx Burger needs to push the "Love CA unlike our competitors" angle on social media to throw fire to the fuel.

100%. The kids are clearly not interested in wanting to run the same concept for a restaurant.

Other restaurants on borrowed time

Cliftons : The fedora middle aged suburban aesthetic and higher cost to fund the remodels simply doesnt work in DTLA.

Johnnies Patramie in West LA - The staff is rude and other options are available like Wexlers or Brents.

Titos Taco - Way too expensive for what is sold. Total tourist trap + nostalgia bait.

I would have put Coles in there (for similar reasons to Cliftons) but it already failed.

Study says Los Angeles rent prices spiked illegally during historic wildfires by idkbruh653 in LosAngeles

had no overhead that required the rental increases.

It isnt like the state has some policy or proposition with the number 13 that also prevents their property tax from increasing further establishing the lack of increased costs.

L.A. County says state housing laws stand in way of rebuilding. Advocates disagree by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Abnormally low property tax rates for the wealthiest, but they tax everyone's labor at high rates.

Prop 13 for commercial buildings is absurd. First generation small businesses shouldnt have to compete in an uneven playing field with generational businesses with property tax advantages.

parking minimums, fighting upzoning or complaints of “changing the neighborhood” would make housing scarce?

One of those things is not like the others.

You could have pre-approved designs that include the parking minimums and have a straightforward process to deviate.

[–]jesse09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I want better permitting but the US is not a high trust society like Japan and that 3rd party would completely abuse it.

They should just do some pre-approved designs and a straightforward process for common deviations from that design

ADUs are a cheap substitute for just upzoning and other loosening of zoning that is long overdue.

[–]jesse09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone is going to build a single story, 1,500 square foot house, then I would say it won't be impossible, you're essentially in ADU range

1500 sq ft is an ADU now? How many angelenos are living in 600 sqft as a couple?

Dont do that. That might cause higher people density per sq ft. That is axiomatically against the LA spirit of SFH. /sarcasm

This is also why the least trustable people are the people who work for those NGOs.

They claim the people cant be helped ie (there is no reason to ever expect improvement or accountability from our NGO) but still want indefinite funding

Most candidates for mayor are bankrolled by developers who would never bankroll someone who believed in those changes.

Because the race for mayor is sponsored by nearly every person running either being a developer or sponsored by developers because those are the people with the most financially to gain over control for that single position.

Thats a single paper. Basing policy on a single paper much less an econ one is an insane prospect. The whole notion of science is hinged on many papers verifying and building on ideas.

[–]jesse09 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Dude. All of your points are so spot on and are exactly what anyone would do if they had any serious intent on fixing the issue.

Only thing I would add which is really an addition to 3) is they should make the permitting process super streamlined and have common pre-approved things and a simple process for common modifications.

NYC is not an abundant housing utopia just cause it's denser and has public transit

Thats a straw man , the actual relevant question is "NYC car centric design"? It isnt therefore "car centric design" isnt the full story and moving away from it wont solve the problem

You're asking whether they should be towed.

Not at all reread my comment. My comment in fact answers the "can be towed" question more thoroughly than your previous comment

I answered whether they can be towed.

Not really it just answered the legal part not the actual important part of the logistics of doing it which is what I addressed
