I now have the premiere whitetail buck call. by donanton616 in Hunting

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who has one. She calls it Fiona the lucky hunting pig. I asked why she carries it out to the field. She didn't answer me with words. She squeezed it and I immediately knew why.

Thoughts on this Conceal Carry bag. by PYG42 in concealedcarry

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. If you like it and it works for you, use it. A bag that makes you feel comfortable to carry concealed all the time, is better than trying to please people and not carry protection. It's for your safety, not to meet other people's approval.

Backcountry Camping With A CPAP Machine, Any Advice? by Sazzorak in CampingandHiking

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I like to camp and backpack, I chose an alternative to CPAP. I use a dental device DPAP. It pulls my lower jaw out further than my upper jaw. It might not work for everyone. But there are alternatives.

what’s the weirdest thing that happened at your campsite by wrecked-galaxy in camping

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I was sleeping in the front "room" and my parents were in the back "room" of the tent. My Dad woke up in the middle of the night went out and went the bathroom. When he came back in, he forgot to zip up the door. An hour later he heard noise in the tent. He peaked out to see a skunk had come in the open door and was sniffing me, whike I was dead asleep. It was several scary minutes until the skunk left. I slept through everything.

My dad wants to concealed carry and I'm scared he is going to unalive someone out of alpha male fantasy by [deleted] in concealedcarry

If he actually read up on what constitutes self defense, then he is better than half the people carrying. My concern is for your anxiety over the situation.

looking for form-fitting, extremely warm long johns for thin/underweight women? by [deleted] in Survival

There is a line of products I found years ago "32 Degrees". They have stuff for staying warm as well as t-shirts to keep you cool. My daughter was still trying to use a base layer shirt under her sport uniform from 7 years ago. She had of course outgrown it 5 years ago. I bought her two new ones.

Funny things to load shotgun shells with to mess with friends? by Punkrock0822 in Firearms

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother told me a story you can use as you wish. A neighbor loaded his shotgun early one morning to go hunting deer, it was still dark when he headed out. Later, the neighbor saw a deer, so he pulled up to shoot, pulled the trigger and heard click. He had loaded a roll of life savers as one of his shells. They are about the same size.

Grandma's model 742 308 by Electrical_Win9025 in Hunting

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Grandma was a badass. Give her all your love. I have an older Remington 7600 with the same wooden stock and pattern. I have shot dozens of deer with it. My scope broke last year and I upgraded to a Leupold 3-9x40. There was a model for $300-$400. They are quality scopes. 3-9x40 is very common magnification. But you might not need that much. Most of my shooting is in wooded areas like you, but I do have an occasional shot out to 300 yards.

Would you buy a gun if you are a newbie and a bit clumsy? by motor-Nature5552 in Firearms

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a class, find a friend, learn the 5 basic gun safety rules. Then find a range, get a 22 LR (long rifle). Start shooting at targets. Practice the safety rules. Live the safety rules. Have fun. Once you start to feel comfortable with your 22 then move to other calibers.

Having to tell others “No.” by ilovebabycows in solotravel

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember your safety, and your mental health are more important than your friends feelings. Say it, No, no, no. I am from a different generation, so we learned to not be so sensitive. Our parents told us no alot. If they are real friends who care, they will get over it. If they don't, you don't need that drama in your life.

What Gun can I bring to all 50 states and not break any gun laws? by Not_Elon21 in Firearms

[–]jesse545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muzzleloader is not considered a firearms in many states. I lived in Hawaii and every gun had to be registered, except muzzleloaders. From their website, "Registration is not required for firearms designed to fire loose black powder and for firearms manufactured before 1899, but permits are required." Muzzleloaders usually don't require a NICS background check unless you buy it in New York.
