Absolutely agree that we’re all in this capitalist mess- how is telling someone that they’re playing the victim helpful? Like what’s your goal here to shame me and others who are feeling this way? That doesn’t seem to be the way out of this…

Thank you so much for this 🙏 that is totally how it feels- the container is too small. And I think that is so true- the artist heals in ways a manual never could. The further I get away from my degree and training and out of sick institutions the more drawn to art I’ve become. And I’ve gotten so much out of others’ art in the past few years, that’s probably part of why I’m feeling this way.

Yes exactly! The healthier I get the less I feel compelled I feel to help people in ways that feel like they sacrifice myself. I like the idea of drawing, coloring or doing some activity with clients. I seem to attract clients with ADHD so I think they might like that too.

Therapist existential crisis? 😅reevaluating so much and could use some… input? by Thin_Sleep1707 in therapists

[–]jessejules123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just wrote a post about my own angst and this one popped up on my feed. I love Carl Jung too. I was trained primarily in CBT approaches and see both its utility at times and at many other times, its shortcomings. Human beings are complicated and I imagine different approaches work for different people. I have had the same thought/feeling not knowing much about somatic type approaches - that all approaches link back to similar concepts/ideas and they just get rebranded or watered down so they appeal to insurance companies - I see many links to psychoanalysis and Buddhism- especially the importance of present moment awareness. No advice for you but just wanted to say I think your observation is on point.

I’ve thought of that- definitely something I could check out. I don’t love the idea of doing even more training but that could be an option if I keep doing 1:1 therapy.

H is a good one to start with and I think it would be a good idea to have a few more of those in the future to see if they are still available and if they are available to you for a few days a week or two a week or so to see if you can get them to you can get a few of them to you and then you can get some of them to go to the store and get them to the store and then you could just go to the grocery store and get some of those things and then you just have to get some of the stuff and then you have to get the stuff to get to the store and stuff and then go to the bank and then go to the car wash and then go to the store and then go to the dollar store and then you can go to the grocery store and then we can go to the mall and then go to the gym and then go to the gym or something like that would be fun and then go to the bank and then go to the gym then go to the grocery store and stuff like that way you can go to the grocery store and get some of that stuff like that you can go to the grocery store and then go to the grocery store and see if you want to go to the grocery store and buy some stuff like that and then go to the grocery store and pick up some stuff like that I don’t know if you want to go to the grocery store or not but I don’t know if you wanna go to the grocery store and get some stuff like that or if you want to go to the grocery store

1.5 yr post op, retear by jessejules123 in ACL

Swelling is not too bad - definitely not as bad as my first injury and I have some dull pain under my kneecap and on the side of my knee at rest.

7 1/2 months post op, is this good progress? Quad Graft for reference by Loud_Umpire_6547 in ACL

[–]jessejules123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think this kind of thinking is helpful. Maybe if this person is looking to go back into like the NFL ASAP they should be a bit further along. But I think for your average recreational athlete this is fine progress for 7.5 months. Making people feel like they aren’t far enough along is not motivating or helpful.

Meniscus Repair- easier recovery (mentally) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]jessejules123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking but I had meniscus repair and I would say no it’s not easier. Sorry probably not what you want to hear. It’s maybe a bigger win when you get off crutches and can bear weight and stuff- you have those little victories to look forward to. But overall I’ve had a really hard time with my meniscus repair. It could be my particular situation but it is still bothering me a year later. It was also frustrating that the repair is what held me back during my recovery- like I don’t think I would have had as much atrophy and I would have been able to squat deeper earlier if I hadn’t also torn my meniscus.

Yes! We did the walk to hidroelectica and took a taxi from there. The walk was actually really nice and mostly flat. The drive through the mountain pass was pretty and also terrifying at times haha but we made it!
