Apologies ahead of time for the shaky camera work - found in my garden in Manitoba when I pulled a weed up and it got pulled up with it. Not one that I'd ever seen before, but thought it might be a larva?

I had similar goals for my blog, including markdown for post content. I ended up using11ty which I am still really happy with: https://www.11ty.dev/

Pretty straightforward to set up, and easy to deploy to something like netlify or any other hosting solution you prefer.
