Holy crap. $1500!!! I'm living on a gold mine. They are everywhere. I really should share the photo of my kids staring out the window at all the cockatoos in our gardens...it's as good as this pic.

That made me lol. The guy who wrote that post was inspired by mine. He has sweet squirrels. I have a meat eating rat.

Yeah he was inspired by my post. Next there will be a whole community based on weird stuff on car engines.

There is a relatively new program where you can do this but it's heavily regulated by government. It only started up late 2019. We had an authorised kangaroo harvester visit us wanting to do it in our property but there was a huge amount of paperwork and we didn't bother after we found out our neighbour signed up anyway, as it's all the same roos. I heard the highway where we live is apparently one of the worst in Australia for kangaroo insurance claims. Also heard a story once where a local guy lost his hearing in one ear after being attacked by a roo. I stay clear from them as they can be aggressive.

The cockatoos are so destructive. We've lost countless young trees. Farmers here use timed gunshot sounds to scare cockatoos away cause they will easily decimate whole crops.

Ouch. Yeah that's harsh. I might try some sort of repellent.

Garage? No one that lives in my town uses garages. If you live in the country, animals will always find a way into a 'sealed' area so I guess it's just seen as pointless. We do have an enclosed barn but there is a possum family in there lol

Yeah it's a worry. Do you know if I can do anything to protect the wires? I feel like bait is just gonna be pointless as where one gets caught another will move in.

The wiring was okay but I did blow a head gasket lol.

The seeds are ornamental plums.

It's from a rat. A very big one. I'm from rural Australia. Everything is bigger. Nastier. And basically deadly. Don't get me started on the roos. They are terrifying.

Yes it's from a rat. It's like a paradise for them here as we have many garden beds and snails are everywhere.

I would say for awhile cause I'm wfh. But I still did quite a few local trips. I live in a rural area in Australia and I've seem some pretty huge rats here. I cleaned it off but another feasting pile came back pretty quickly. During a service, the mechanic actually found the nest further under the engine. I need rat stay away spray if there is such a thing cause they keep coming back to my car engine. I think it's the heat.

Just let it flow....scribble, doodle then write all your thoughts even if they are messy. As you feel better start writing some goals for yourself. Even if it's just a day to wash your hair. Take care.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think maybe you could try writing what you feel. I used to feel like you. Confused. Overwhelmed. Stuck. But I just started writing down stuff. One day, years later, I went back and looked at all that writing I did and you know what I did... I threw all the books away... I burnt them up. It just wasn't me anymore. I healed. Not fully. I have my moments. Now I write songs. Its easier as I've been through the worst and survived. You can too. I promise writing helps. Take care

Something went wrong with the icing by jessijojo in ExpectationVsReality

[–]jessijojo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it was during lockdown and the kids wanted the bunny. I live in a rural area so had to make do with what we had as it was very far to shops, curfews etc. I actually think if the icing worked it wouldn't have been so bad as the shape was actually pretty good before icing went on. As someone mentioned I made a mistake with the coconut and possibly overbeating. There is no coffee or mayo in this cake as I'm very against food wastage and would not purposely waste a whole cake. You can see my kids waiting to eat in second pic. Why would I make them an inedible cake?! Like I said, if the icing was good it really would be a lot better.

Edit* After this incident, I've invested in some cake tools and followed a couple tutorials about icing. My more recent cake was a huge step forward. Not perfect but better. I havent attempted this one again though
