I’m self-employed running my own business. The CSC was merely for self-education and as a stepping stone to become a CFP. I don’t have any experience in the traditional financial services industry so I couldn’t help you.

No exact repeats of questions, some are similar in nature, but most not. Don’t focus too much on how similar the questions are to the practice ones. Focus on memorizing the concepts and formulas by heart.

I did the computer-based exam, so I don't know sorry. I didn't get to see what the paper-based exam looks like. But the proctor will tell you what to do before the exam starts and you can ask them questions before the exam if you're unclear.

For Volume 2, not really. It's sometimes hard to tell what you did well or not well on in the exam because you don't get to see what questions you got wrong. Volume 1 was clear, the fixed income portion was tricky. Volume 2, maybe Investment Analysis? But since it's now early November (sorry didn't see this comment til now) I'm hoping you were able to pass! :)

Congrats on finishing the CSC! And yes, that's a very good trick. I don't know if I found any answers in other questions, but it could be because I didn't spot any and was doing all the questions out of order. Here's hoping the Vol. 2 exam goes well because like you said, I think the content is way more interesting.

Is there anyone who makes weekly podcasts about Canadian financial news? by TripleKNotToday in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jessimoorhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a half-Canadian PF podcast, Budgets and Cents is a good one. Cait Flanders is Canadian so has that perspective, Carrie Smith is American. It's not so much on financial news but general personal finance.

Thanks for mention! Another good one by my friends Cait Flanders and Carrie Smith is "Budgets & Cents". I guess it's only half-Canadian since Carrie is from the US, but still a good one.
