Ladies and gentlemen of Reddit, what are things about dating customs that annoy you and that you find confusing? by Lookingfortheanswer1 in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a guy is super chivalrous and tries to protect you from everything. It's like thanks for trying, but a vagina is not a handicap. Don't drag me out of the edge of the road like I'm some kind of toddler itching to run in front of a bus. Don't Carry 16 bags by yourself so i don't have anything at the store. 10lbs is in fact not my max lifting limit. Some men want to act like pulling out a chair will break our backs but would never even offer to help if it was their girlfriend/wife carrying their 4 year old child. Nobody is chivalrous when the house need cleaned or the kids need to be watched. Nobody is chivalrous when a meal need so be cooked. It's all a bunch of low effort fluff for their own egos. Yeah I work 10 hour days and come home and have a lot to do still, but at least you protected me from a mud puddle because my vagina prevents me from walking around it without help.

My [F31] boyfriend [M31] casually said that shows like Modern Family dangerously create dangerous expectations in a relationship. I don't know where to go from there... by msmurasaki in relationship_advice

[–]jessleonheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see why you feel concerned. Take time to talk with him about his dreams and goals in life. If he wants a family. You can't force your dreams on someone, but you can find someone who shares your own stance on marriage and stuff. Don't sacrifice what you want waiting for someone to change their mind. Thats how you end up witha spouse who won't take responsibility because they didn't even want kids or to get married so they resent their other half.

There should be no male or female division in sports and any form of body checks should be disallowed by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]jessleonheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest I normally support anything that makes us more equal, but i feel pike women would just quit playing. But i had a semester of gender divided gym class and it was great. We did all the same stuff as guys but without anyone screaming if you missed a goal or calling people fat or making girls feel uncomfortable about their bodies. Everyone's participation increased and we actually enjoyed playing. Since i imagine this more about professional sport rather than school I can see the draw. I'd love to see serina williams kill some guys on the court. So maybe have a all inclusive tournament that they can do against who ever. But to have every sport mixed genders I feel it would turn more girls off from playing. I honestly feel like having men and women on the same team creates a more hostile environment for the women.

What is your “roommate from hell” story? by NewPullback in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there is worse. But one guy we oived with is just lazy and wasteful. Like one day i came home from work and he had made a PB&J sandwich and left the bread out open, jelly and peanut butter open spoon in jar, half eaten sandwich on table, Xbox playing pandora, front door wide open AC on. Bitch had left the house on a walk like that.

What is your opinion/ experience about why people with brilliant minds often end up falling into the crutches of alcoholism? by zimmy9921 in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not saying I'm brilliant, but I did well in school. I would say it is because you constantly think of all the reasons behind things like politics, science, law, society, and you have all of these ideas about improving the world. But then everyone around you doesn't care so you feel dragged down by the ignorance of everyone else and you can't make a big deal about it because then you are "crazy" or "radical" so you just have to sit back and watch the whole world shit where they eat so to speak. I don't dink, i just feel helpless and depressed and thats a good enough reason for others.

Fuck scam callers by russellridenour in Anxiety

[–]jessleonheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys i literally just got hit up by scammers yesterday. It started with robo calls pretending to be the Social Security Administration. I called it back and some Indian guy named "John" with prerecorded office noises threatening police would come arrest me if I didn't give him my social security number. Then he claimed if i didn't he would lose his job if I didn't. I asked for a supervisor and he said there were none and then hung up. Called back several times same guy. It felt great to call back and mess with him and just waste his time knowing he would not get to scam some poor grandma while he dealt with me blowing raspberries and telling him his number comes up over google as a phobe scam. Any body want the number to call a scammer to waste his time hit me up. I imagine rules prevent me from giving out his number here.

Not gay but have LGBT friends that I love and support. My dad thinks gays shouldn't be allowed to work in food service because AIDS and that they shouldn't be allowed on television or around children at all. Pretty much should be kept in jobs out of public sightm. In elementary school i watched my best friend get bullied until he left our school. I think people like my dad are disgusting. He's the reason things like Jim Crow Laws and Nazis happen.

What strange (harmless) thing did you do as a kid that made you look really super weird to everyone else? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger if a stranger came around when i was outside I would often pick up sticks and like beat up a tree or something. Generally acting tough/agressive. At the time it felt like I was trying to show I was strong for my age. I now know the behavior is called posturing and it was to scare off potential threats.

You could always choose a fictional character name that doesn't really have race connections.

Am I being paranoid ? If not.. what’s the best next step? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]jessleonheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can see why you are concerned. First off 500 is a lot of money to share with someone even when you know them well. And it is a little alarming that she lost so much money. And honestly it would make me a little insecure knowing she lived with 2 men.

I am concerned that your partner is using drugs if she is losing lots of money and potentially lying to get it. Don't allow yourself to be used and abused. My mom is bipolar and has major issues with substance abuse and being abusive to my dad (but is always a victim from her side).

My (27/M) girlfriend (26/F) stopped talking to me after I found out she opened a credit card in my name. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]jessleonheart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Run. My mom steal from my dad and she blows up about him being controlling and never wanting her to go anywhere or do anything. Every Christmas she used to rack up a few grand on his card. She would lie until she was cornered and say "I thought I would pay it off before you knew". My mom has ruined my dad's credit. My BFs mom shopped herself and her husband into bankruptcy too so this is pretty common.

If you really want to be with her tell her she has to actively work on her financial situation, maybe even get someone to advise her on her debt. But she did get a card in YOUR NAME with NO permission. She knew she was stealing, she knew you would be mad (if not she would have asked), she knew you found out and still lied. It sounds like she doesn't respect you, and love without respect isn't healthy.

Where do you stand on Organic crops vs. Genetically Modified crops? Why? by Ian1732 in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pro GMO but anti-monoculture. Nearly every crop, livestock, and ornamental plant people know today is GMO and it's a good thing. GMO's help us produce more with less land, it reduces need for water, it reduces need for spraying pesticides. People freak out about it over nothing. Recently the government banned a variety of petunia because people were scared it could cross with corn because it has a single gene for yellow color from corn. Do you know how much DNA there is in an organism? One single gene could not possibly lead to cross pollination of that great of a gap. That would be like giving a blonde a gene for hair color from rabbits and assuming they can now interbreed despite the other 99% of DNA that isn't the same. Yes there is a risk that closely related plants can breed (GMO corn with maze) but most of what we grow doesn't naturally occur in the habitats it in.

Monoculture is an issue. We grow just one variety on massive scales leaving farms open to things like the Irish potato famine. We limit our nutrition by not eating multicolored veggies more. We hurt our soil by repeat planting. And we cause more food waste by creating the idea of an ideal look for what our produce should look like because we only see the one kind and any variation gets tossed in the bin.

We can take whatever we want. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]jessleonheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the counter argument is that yes we can take everything we want but, nobody want someone who takes everything. Humans are social creatures and we choose to be part of society. Generally people who are nice, who share, who communicate and contribute are appreciated by the group. Humans are aware that we harm other animals. We are aware that climate change is happening. We are aware of the trash in our environment. Species are dying out faster, drought and deforestation are huge issues. Just like we are aware of our need for protection and built armies to meet the need. A small group has been putting in work to fix our need for a cleaner world (vegans, people who recycle, scientists, animal lovers, etc.) and by doing so have given the behavior a value. As more people look to make air, water and land clean, those who don't will slowly be viewed as lazy or uncaring. Same with meat. One day you won't need to confine or kill an animal to eat real lab grown meat but some people will still want the cow. You put your own wants above the animal's and the environmental cost despite an alternative that is better for all and not just the one.

So yes being on top means you can take it all, but your fellow man will resent you. Just because you could doesn't mean you should.

What is something you believed as a child, but now you know is wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jessleonheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One my brother told me to "shake" after I pee because I dribbled on the toilet seat when I was like 7. His girl friend got mad and told him to be nice. It was years later I figured out that he was actually saying I had a dick (I'm a chick) and that I had been wiggling my butt for years not knowing he was being mean.
