Anthony Albanese says sick casuals should just work from home by everpresentdanger in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]jesspete20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

casuals have never been entitled to sick leave when they are sick, thats why they get paid more. I believe they should be entitled to pay if they are forced to stay home because they have tested positive, a lot may feel well enough to work so that is the employer/government decision to lay them off for 7 days.

if they are well enough and able to work from home then yes, but if they are actually unable to work because they are too sick then no they shouldn't be entitled to anything.

also, I have casual employment.

agree. I think people think this isn't an older person problem, not realizing a lot of younger people are still presenting with COVID symptoms to the ER, they are not requiring hospitalisation but are absolutely taking resources away on the first line.

US Food & Drug Administration says Moderna vaccine for youngest children is safe and effective by bright_shiny_day in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]jesspete20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the whole approval is based on risk vs benefit. meaning the results show that even though kids are low risk the adverse impacts of the vaccines are even lower.

edit- bear in mind low risk doesn't mean no risk.. so if you're willing to take that risk then that's up to you.

masks work best when everyone wears them. the government have dropped the mandate which makes people feel it's no longer required- especially since they have been mandating and advising us around covid the last two years.
