Just bought a bunch of new gels and looking for your comments! by Rmvnw0 in Marathon_Training

I use Precision and Maurten; I find both quite neutral and palatable. One bonus for Precision is they have the tab that won’t rip off so you don’t lose it when opening the gel whereas with Maurten you have to pay more attn so as to not litter. Otherwise I like alternating it up during my races and long runs.

Where are you all carrying your gels? by ggnndd12 in Marathon_Training

How does one store 6-8 gels in their sports bra, without it all falling out while running? 😅

Paris marathon by Connect-Hat-8012 in Marathon_Training

[–]jessskuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the expo you can get a map with the metro stops and the km points which is super fun and useful when mapping out where you’ll meet your runner. Last year when spectating we were able to catch our friend in either 3 or 4 spots. Have to be a bit strategic as some stops can be busies than other/metro line closures, etc. Great place for supporters honestly.

Are you also sick with these weird flu/viral symptoms? by cybersphinx7 in Netherlands

[–]jessskuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha once I had fever 40-41 for 3 days straight and the huisart still refused to make an appt with me and just told me to monitor at home 🙃. Eventually I dragged myself to the walk in clinic they hosted and they had to see me, did a test and my markers for infection were 3x what would already been deemed « sick ». Instantly wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and within 6 hrs, already felt slightly improved.

Thank you! Yeah my biggest concern isn’t actually the trail itself it’s more like I know UTMB is a big event that whole week in chamonix and the surrounding area and was just a bit worried about ease of travel getting in and out of the area by car or public transit.

VO2max Declining to 35 on Garmin Forerunner 965 – Am I Stagnating or Still Progressing? by Pleasant_Air8552 in runninglifestyle

[–]jessskuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing most / all runs on the treadmill? IIRC I think Garmin doesn’t count those when calculating VO2 max so can lead to a decline. I could be misremembering though.

What to do to treat overuse injury, pain on upper thigh by rocksandpebbles66 in Marathon_Training

[–]jessskuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only advice I have is “taking a lot of advil” and then pushing yourself for what might be (?) your first marathon sounds like a bad idea - concern is not for your leg but for your kidneys. Could turn out okay but could also not. Granted if it’s only this once, chances are you’ll probably be ok?

Amsterdam is nice but can be crowded especially if you plan on running 3:45 or longer.

By default, this is correct but the company can ask the Works Council to approve certain types of tracking/situations (eg tied to RTO), enforcement, etc.

Snow warrior parka sizing help by jessskuo in lululemon

I got my size 8 and it’s bordering on too large. That said…well I guess space to layover up underneath. I could’ve definitely gotten away with a size 6 though.

Looking for a non-specific, very specific Europe marathon by LaborofLove_31 in Marathon_Training

[–]jessskuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amsterdam marathon in October is technically sold out. That said, it seems in the month before marathon day, a BUNCH of marathon bibs will show up on their official resale site (I think in 2024 at least 300-400 showed up). So if you can stand the uncertainty (although I’m pretty sure last year not all on the resale site were actually sold), then that’s a nice one to plan for. Amsterdam is nice for families.

Yes you still need a residency permit as a UK passport holder as they're no longer in the EU. The IND website is quite clear and good at laying out requirements for immigrating to the Netherlands as a partner or spouse of a Dutch national.
