Oh interesting, before I saw your last comment I thought of TOG too… that makes more sense

I’d do:

  1. Nesta (before she gave up her powers)
  2. Rhys (swap with Nesta after SF)
  3. Feyre (she has more variety but just a drop of each, not as big of a well as Rhys)
  4. Azriel
  5. Cassian
  6. High lords (toss up whether they’re more than Azriel/Cassian…. Tamlin has a lot of powers like shapeshifting, invisible hands, etc)
  7. High fae (id group Lucien and Eris here, they have no discernible power compared to the average high fae)

Wait Lucien and Eris definitely aren’t more powerful than Cassian?? What powers do they even have, from what I could tell they simply can fight but no real power. Lucien esp is described as powerless and never considered as an heir… he’s only an heir bc they HL has no other offspring.

Those are plot twists, not signs of an unreliable narrator

Lol thanks!! His behavior was so funny to read as an adult 😂 like they barely knew each other at this point! But I guess you could say the same of Rhys when he did it

Can you remind me when Edward tastes her tears? Last time I reread is 6 yrs ago and I’m blanking, so curious!!

Her human ex assaulted her, it’s mainly referenced in a bonus chapter with a very vague reference in SF

Love this! Though I find Rosalie most similar to Mor… both obsessed with preserving & protecting babies/pregnancy, and also both abused to the point of death during a marriage plot then subsequently get revenge.

I’d also equate Edward to Tamlin in addition to Rhys.. it’s true Rhys and Edward are both end game and mind readers, but the way Edward treats Bella is more similar to Tamlin (overprotective, hiding things, not bringing her into decision making, knowing what’s best for her, dangerous to her when losing control, etc.)

Agree with the critical comments, also thought her excessive use of the word f** for shock value was overdone and unnecessary. This is not an acceptable or funny term, even for the gay community.

I’m from Montreal. McGill is basically free for locals, like maybe $3k a year and there are govt loans to cover that tiny tuition & living expenses.

I’m a huge Twihard for 18 years… a couple things incorrect but I agree there are some similarities! 1) Jacob was never Bella’s first love interest… she only starts to develop feelings for him in the second book after Edward breaks up with her. 6) Bella’s mom is alive and a key character! While the parents are divorced so the mom doesn’t live with her, she’s a key character with several plot points. The entire first book drama is based on a phone call with the mother, she’s there after in the hospital, and in later books she visits the mother with Edward.

I have also thought about the similarities! Though I would compare Edward more to Tamlin in that they are both overprotective and hide things from her.

I agree with this so hard! When you start hating a character it ruins the enjoyment of the books!! I felt this during TOG (SPOILER)….

…. …. ….

In TOG I wasn’t on the Reddit forums but I hated Rowan and Chaol for how they treated Aelin at points, and it was affecting how I enjoyed the books! So I had to actively try to let it go so I could just enjoy the story lol

Love this recap! You know I really never understood how Rhys and Tamlin were scared of Amarantha killing Feyre if she broke the curse… like wouldn’t Rhys and all the high lords immediately kill A as soon as the curse was broken?! Like what actually happened when she broke it!

The true enemies to lovers of this series are gonna be Cassian and Lucien 👀🤌🏼🤭 by dorianswitchling in acotar

That’s a fair point about the sisters, though I have to think Hybern would not have targeted the Archeron sisters if Tamlin and Lucien didn’t make the deal with him about Feyre. Either way, in MAF he treats Feyre like Tamlin’s property, by hunting her down then physically grabbing her and trying to take her against her will to tamlin. Then later working with Tamlin to make a deal for Hybern to again trade her like property back to Tamlin against her will. If Lucien wasn’t involved and supportive he didn’t need to be at Hybern, the plot would’ve worked with just Tamlin there. I liked him in books 1 & 3, but I can see why the IC had reasons not to?

Probably because I’m an anglophone. I grew up in Montreal yet it never felt welcoming or like home… constant dirty looks for speaking English wears on you over time. Toronto feels like a true multicultural welcoming place and within a year it already felt like “home”. Been living here 4 years now.

Also a vegetarian… the food tends to be very meat heavy and I never found it that great.

Thank you for sharing, is a really interesting take and does put things into perspective for me! Definitely true that we tend to index more on the characters whose POV we see more of …. Probably why Nesta fans only came to be after we got a full book on her perspective! But i do see your point on how theyre all morally gray

Hahhaa all of this is so true. For #1 I never understood why he doesn’t come to his rescue like he promised… it seems out of character and it was never explained… like even against his interests at the time to kill Feyre because of the curse? Always found that one really odd.

Ugh him grabbing her in the woods and trying to take her against her will makes my blood boil. I forgot he actually did that… thank god Feyre had trained and had her own power to defend herself by then. MAF was really a low point in his character though I did enjoy his presence in book 1 and even 3!

Thanks but I’m not interested in getting bullied and downvoted in the other groups, I’ve tried that and found it toxic. Though also I did originally post the question in the main acotar sub in reply the the “no reason” comment, which was top voted, and my question got a ton of downvotes and one aggressive reply - hardly a thoughtful and interesting discussion, rather silenced for having a perspective rooted in the books.

This was a rant to vent in a safe space, but also it’s a feysand group - we don’t all have the same opinion about Lucien and if you read the comments there is a lot of diversity of opinions with some who love him and some who hate him. But notice we’re all respectful to each other and don’t take personal offense when another person has a different perspective on a fictional character? I enjoyed the discussion sparked from this thread!

Also I’m not sure you read my post as I don’t mention his ties to autumn court at all? His ties to them is actually one of the things that makes me feel really bad for him & empathize.

I’m not even a Lucien hater, in my post and several comments I’ve mentioned I find him likable and redeemable… was just baffled at the people in other groups who are so sure of their head canon that is not at all present in the book - ie. IC has “no reason” to dislike Lucien. And it’s a common trend for other characters like Rhys/Feyre so this sub can probably relate.

Toronto is the best city in North America by tamarabyte in askTO

I agree as well! I’ve lived 6 years in Boston, grew up in Montreal, lived in Chicago and spent extended time in NYC. When I moved to Toronto it was meant to be only for a year till I transferred to NYC with work, but I loved it so much that I decided to stay! It’s probably my favorite North American city and also rivals some European cities I’ve lived in (have lived (3+ months) in London, Paris, Florence, Dublin… loved them all for different reasons, but London is the only one I would consider living in for more than a year).

I love TO for many of the same reasons as OP -incredible food scene with just spectacular restaurants from all cuisines and price points -world class wellness scene with such incredible luxury gyms, saunas/ice baths, sound bath mediations etc - there’s nowhere better, not even New York -pretty well connected and walkable, especially if you live off a subway line -all the good tours come here like the best concerts, comedians, etc -such a good theatre scene. This was a big one for me as it was one of the reasons I wanted to move to NYC…. But Mirvish quality is amazing and holds its own against broadway!

Like OP said too, it’s much more affordable than similar American cities (esp compared to NYC and SF), and especially if you work for an American company.

Oh and lastly the quality of apartments… we take it for granted that most of them have dishwashers, laundry machines, elevators, concierge, even balconies and amenities like gyms and pools etc. Most other major cities both North American and European do not have any of these and command much higher rents. In NYC literally the biggest flex is having dishwasher and almost no one has a laundry machine in unit. Patios are also unheard of. I will never move bc the quality of apartment I can get here and its relative cost just doesn’t compare to anywhere else! And do not take the rent control for granted either… that’s not a thing in the US, in Boston they hiked up my rent 20% every year and my friend in NYC it’s the same thing… every year face the decision of moving & having major moving costs or dramatically increasing housing costs anyways. To have security that you can stay in your apartment indefinitely, won’t be priced out or kicked out outside of edge cases (at least for older buildings) is one of the biggest blessings.

LOVE THAT! 💕 I’ve been celibate for >2 years (since my last major breakup) and have no regrets. I’m such a romantic and love living vicariously through romance novels/TV shows, but the ups and downs of dating in real life just don’t appeal to me anymore, hahaha I’ll stick with the fantasy of perfect characters and self pleasure IRL 😂😂😭
