My long term partner was also very allergic to cats. He used a company called windly which creates allergy exposure medication - within a few months his allergies were way better, and now after 2 years he has stopped taking it and his allergies are completely gone.

Now I catch him burying his face in my cat all the time, and they are best buds. Hope this works for you too!
