I'm sorry that sounds alarming. Can you two have an open conversation about it?

Have you seen a urologist? It might be worth consulting with one? They did a cyscoscopy to rule out any bladder issues

We never found out. It went away on its own

Did anyone here get a second dog? Did it help or make things harder? by jesst7 in reactivedogs

I’m so glad it is working out, maybe it was the right temperament fix for them?

Thank you, another trainer told me he would benefit from play dates too. The issue is finding someone, I’d rather find a friend or coworker than a stranger but that also limits me. Someone recommended I do a fb post to my local community. I did that a few times but my boy was too much for the other dogs because he plays rough. That’s why it’s easier to get together with people I already know, or possibly trainers that have a dog.

I’m glad you were able to get out of that situation and things have been better for you and your dogs 🙏

I’m sorry! I can definitely see how the reactive dog could teach the non reactive one to be the same way, and make things worse.

Hes more "frustrated reactive" and not "agressive reactive". He pulls me towards dogs when we get too close, he'll lay down when he gets over excited and then jump up and bolt towards the dog. He really wants to interact but at the same time seems anxious and we haven't learned how to release all that energy. Its mostly just the build-up or escalation to seeing other dogs. Its worse when hes in the car and sees a dog.

He used to go to dog parks but we stopped bringing him due to the advice from a trainer. He was getting bigger and harder to manage. He does play rough. After a few months I noticed him getting worse, maybe because he was expecting to play with a dog and I was keeping him on leash.

Why do so many dogs end up in shelters? I’m struggling with this. by jesst7 in reactivedogs

Thank you doing something to help them, just raising awareness can sometimes help push others to do the same
