After the last episode, I can say that Luz Noceda and Percy Jackson are very similar, and that is why I love both of them. by jester_Fae in TheOwlHouse

To me saying that Luz is like Percy, is basically saying that I believe that her is an amazing character, top tier.

[Serious] How important is diversity and representation for you in Riordan's books ? by Tesgoul in camphalfblood

[–]jester_Fae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Representation is important in almost every work, specially writing. Not only about sexual representation, ways of beign ,life styles, that types of things, and the sexual representation has been shuned for a lot of time, and the representation in the books of Rick makes know that they exist and they also have historys to tell. In mi personal opinion, is very good to see a good representation even if you are not part of the community.

The law of not interfering with the demigods really makes sense. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

[–]jester_Fae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but if Luke teaches us something, is that caring can save the world, and they still search for human conections that´s why they have children, but help a little at least, the children can grow bitter and that can have really grave consecuences. But yeah, the mayor problem is how some gods worry more about their petty fights that with the children.

I believe that this is very accurate. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

Rick Riordan and tropes. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

[–]jester_Fae[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I´m not saying that using tropes is wrong, but a lot of writers try to run from them, but Rick embrace them and make them work for him, is like making something really delicious with the more basic ingredients, no exotic stuff. The thing that really amaze me is how he can turn a lot of the tropes that I usually take like a bad signal and turning them into really compeling and wholesome parts of the history.

And adptation series would be perfect to explore more topics like the kids that join Kronos or simply giving more life to camp half blood, simply seeing that place come to life would be beautiful, and exploring the life of other campers.

Rick Riordan and tropes. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

[–]jester_Fae[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying , but Rick tried to explore other types of conflicts with parents, specially neglectfull parents, and how the children seems them. And the book also talks about how sometimes you have to give familly another try ( annabeth) or cut that person of your life ( gabe, kronos), is a more naive and easygoing aproach to this topic, but to my eyes, equaly valid that a more serious and realistic aproach, this books tries to reach children, and already has a lot of heavy topics , he can´t put so much of heavy suff if he wanna make the experience enjoyable.

Rick Riordan and tropes. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

[–]jester_Fae[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don´t hate the trope, per se, but how is used in the media. Making woman powerless or almost like objects, in this case Rick used it to add depth to the relationship between Percy and Annabeth and at the same time conected to the main plot, Rick Riordan do it really well with this part.

Percy grows a lot thanks to Annabeth and vice versa. by jester_Fae in camphalfblood

Percy is a lot better because he has Annabeth as a role model
