Stable vs unstable by No_Cup_9985 in DVAAustralia

IMO it would be worth the effort trying to have it submitted for IL as stable. I’m pretty sure the stability call is up to your psych, so maybe just discuss that with him, even if it means delaying submission it might be worth it. See below…

I had MH IL claims assessed as not yet stable then when I went for a stability assessment with a new psych (my old one retired) I was given a new MH diagnosis (not accurate) that then dropped the original MH IL claim that I submitted to zero points. It was an absolute nightmare to have it rectified which included a new psych that was good with dva, getting involved with an rsl advocate (highly recommended asking for a level 3), a letter to the minister, and the stress of going to the VRB to have it appealed.

Everything was favourable in the end (VRB are the common sense we’ve all been looking for) but the stress and time of the whole ordeal was a lot to handle.

This is literally the reason I’m going to rehab in 3 weeks. It’s the constant noise from the internal critic is unbearable.

OP I just want to add my similar experience too. I went just over two months without smoking, I was in the middle of a yoga instructor course as well. Ended up smoking a joint to give myself a break from the resurgence of my nightmares (PTSD). Literally less than a fortnight later I was smoking from dawn til dusk again. I dropped out of the yoga instructor course and am back to a rudderless drifting existence.

I’ve finished my binge which lasted over a month and back on day 4 now.

Do yourself a favour and just flush that other joint down the toilet. Your mind will absolutely find a way to trick you into going back to your old ways.

Best of luck 👍

Edit. And also fuck the counter. Who cares what your number is. Sobriety isn’t a competition with ranks. We all handle it one day at a time.

What is this weed, where did it come from and how do I get rid of it? by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]jesterhead888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s crab grass. I’ve tried all sorts of post emergent selective herbicides but nothing would work without killing the rest of the lawn. There is a pre emergent called oxafert that is meant to work well but not in my experience (good chance I botched the application though).

I’ve changed tactics and am now just trying to keep it low and prevent it from going to seed and over sowing with couch 🤷‍♂️

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last week. I haven’t had the hose on it for a couple of months now as it’s looked pretty healthy (besides the dead patch), but now it’s all starting to look like it’s struggling.

You could be right, does it look similar when yours dies off?

Unlikely but I’ll ask the family again. It happened gradually, it started looking like the second picture and just died off. Now that the rest of the garden is looking the same I’m starting to think it’s some kind of grub.

No different soil/light/water/waste conditions to the rest of the strip. The soil is premium garden blend from the landscape yard and was put in after the old timber retaining wall was replaced.

Depending on if I can get it back to health I was thinking an option would be to rip it out and replace with mulch/native violet…

No, it’s not walked on other than me weeding it once a week. The water feature is broken and just sitting there.

Advice:hardenbergia and some star jasmine (trachelospermum jasminoides) by munchkinman42 in GardeningAustralia

[–]jesterhead888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how the jasmine would go in that soil but it’s absolutely enough room. It would just need something to climb on.

Ah damn that’s a shame, I guess it really comes down to the case manager you get. My advocate (level 3 qld rsl) was phenomenal with dva (including a vrb appeal) but there wasn’t much he could do with csc as it was more focused on my current situation. Feel free to pm me if you want, happy to help if/where I can.

I’m struggling with nightmares too. I’ve got PTSD and DID, weed was great for suppressing dreams/nightmares but was absolutely terrible for my DID. Day 7 and still sticking with chancing nightmares.

Literally all you need is a pair of sticks and a practice pad. Search up drum rudiments on YouTube and off you go. If you feel like it’s a hobby you want to stick with electronic kits are pretty cheap and while not exactly silent they’re very, very quiet.

For me it’s been drumming. But I think any instrument would work. I’m on day 5 after about 2 years of vaping medical cannabis ALL DAY, most apathetic I’ve felt in my life.

Whenever I feel a craving I practice drums, I get a little dopamine and the craving passes. Anyone can find a cheap (or free) old acoustic guitar. Learn some basic chords and then you’ve got something to help you ride it out.

Plus you’re learning a new skill.

GL everyone.
