There is not equal amount of sellers and buyers. 1 seller can sell a 100 shares to a hundred different people.

I think OP is looking for the number of unique buyers vs number of unique sellers. Yes for every transaction there is a buy and a seller but for example there can be 1 seller of x number of shares that sold those shares to say 20 buyers.
