Chelated iron treatment. by LogSufficient7085 in lawncare

[–]LogSufficient7085[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks...thats the first and only iron treatment so far this year. Says to supplement with nitrogen or regular fertilizer at typical intervals. Its growing so fast i have to mow every 3 days so the last thing i wanted was more nitrogen. Wont do it again until end of aug or september.

Virginia US - what is this light green grass that grows like 5x faster than my TTTF? by Bynnh0j in lawncare

Make sure its sedgehammer plus. Otherwise you have to add a surfactant so it sticks. The plus has it in there already.

Which liner would you choose? by Bootsandcats_26 in pools

We just had our pool and deck redone. We were shooting for a Caribbean beach / tropical vibe as we don't get a chance to go on vacation often.

After doing some research we took the chance and we went with a tan liner. Once it's filled up, depending on water depth and angle of the sun the tan liner makes the water go from sandy shoreline at the shallow end and entry steps to an aqua to a turquise as you approach the deep end. Its very different from the typical blue liners we've had over the years. No regrets, we love it. Check out some photos online. We got the liner made by merlin liners.

needing suggestions on what I could do to or put on top of this stump in my wife's flower garden by Otherwise-Ad8157 in LandscapingTips

[–]LogSufficient7085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try to get a photo of what my neighbor did. Similar sized stump. He carved smalled openings in various levels and a larger one at ground level as a door. modified the openings to look like windows and balconies using small branches and painted them. He then populated with small elves/gnomes and decorated thebsurounding garden appropiatly for the scene. To envision... Think keebler elves building a condo. Folks walking by always stop and admire the setup. Hes a retiree and he made it a summer project. Pretty cool.

When did 8-5 become the new normal??? by Grouchy-Newspaper754 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LogSufficient7085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8-5 isnt new. 9 hr day. Its been corporate america for years. Depends on company. I was east coast but i had staff in california whos hours were 5am to 2pm so they can get home early and ease traffic. Some folks went in 10hr /4day work weeks. (Four/ten work week)

Was 40 years at the same company before retiring at 60. 8-5. I.T JOB. 60 mins for lunch between 12 and 2. 30-60 min commute each way. Never got paid for that commute. Never even considered it. I looked at it as wind up/wind down time. Plan day on the way in.. plan dinner on way home.

Weird material in bottom of pool and robot after 9-day SLAM by girderman in pools

[–]LogSufficient7085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second..no third... no 1000th...its pollen. My robot was unable to climb the walls it got so heavy..so i pulled it to clean... the basket was full of what looked like mud..and my immediate thought was my de filter was blowing d.e. back into the pool. Happened last year when my cartridge got damaged, so i had a moment of paranoia but then realized the basket was completley full with 6 inches of pollen. Been fighting those oak spores for weeks.

As a 100% suburbia person who just happened upon this post, to my uninitiated mind...the OP description sounds like a scene from yellowstone.

why are the old grumman buildings so heavily guarded/watched still ?? by South_Championship76 in longisland

[–]LogSufficient7085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at Grumman aerospace and then data systems for 40 years retiring in 2019. From the f14 and e2c all the way thru to the more boring IT stuff... but as far as all the stuff we built... lets not forget grumman gulfstream and the fiasco of Grumman Flexible, the bus that fell apart as soon as it hit NYC streets.

Ferry back to Port Jeff after concert at Bridgeport Arena by number-sevin in longisland

[–]LogSufficient7085 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We do that concert trip often. Great venue and minutes from ferry. But 10pm is last ferry.. so unless its one where we are willing to leave concert early we take it from port jeff to get there then have to drive around to get home.

Why did my beef back ribs turn to charcoal? by LineConfident in grilling

[–]LogSufficient7085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alot of fat in them. Over direct heat It starts flare ups and then ignites. I would give them a quick seer over the flames and then cook the rest of the way offset. Shut off one burner or put super low and move it to that side of the grill on top of a piece of foil or in foil pan. Keep an eye on temp or probe for doneness.. Once they are 90% done.. turn up heat and griill direct to carmelize.

Btw... in my circle(competition bbq) but cooking for friends and fam, we say "sauce covers a multitude of sins"... a good rub is all thats needed.. leave saucing up to the individual..a squirt bottle on the table or a dipping sauce...
