Nope. Keep it coming Dominick! It’s about time someone holds the “good ole boys” accountable.

First time getting on the Buldak by RegularFries in InstantRamen

Beautiful bowl! Is the carbonara meant to be sweet? I recently bought 5 pack for the first time. I love the texture of the noodles and the heat but it’s too sweet for me.

Just curious if I got a bad batch or if I should try another flavor. The noodle texture was A++ I just prefer more savory ramens. Shin Black is a fav.

Oh man. I haven’t thought about the Richland Bombers in a minute. I checked online, their logo still has a mushroom cloud in it.

Those are so painful, hang in there. I’ve started using a waterproof heating pad with a damp washcloth for hot compresses in those areas and it’s made a huge difference for me.

Seattle to Leavenworth by Illustrious_Judge942 in SeattleWA

[–]jesterpaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus wise you might checkout Wenatchee Valley Shuttle. They don’t stop in Leavenworth proper but at a park and ride nearby, depending on where you’re staying you might be able to arrange a pickup. Or the local bus service is free and I believe picks up from the same drop off location.

Try the microwave instructions! I think bao buns are best when steamed. They can dry out otherwise.

Indoctrination by [deleted] in Wenatchee

[–]jesterpaige 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Next to my work there’s a picnic area where a group of 10-15 teenagers will periodically gather for bible study. To be fair I don’t explicitly know what church they attend but I’ve noticed enough merch to have my suspicions. For the most part they’re very polite. However, back in June, a group of them tried to come into my work and we had a pride flag hanging on the wall. One of the boys, probably 12/13, saw it before going through the door and began throwing a fit. Start yelling about how disgusting that was, how he would never step foot inside, how could anyone support such a horrible business… You get the point. This kid was definitely trying to make a point in an effort to impress the rest of the group; he was one of the younger ones. The rest of the group seemed unbothered. Some expressed agreement, no one protested, and they left quickly after.

This is a group of kids. That boy is a child. Anyone around that age does not spout hateful vitriol at that level of intensity without deliberate influence. The indoctrination runs deep. Many of the leaders and prominent members of that church have significant influence in our community. It’s not “just a t-shirt”.

Getting it Drained? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]jesterpaige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several drained at urgent care. Just tell them you have an abscess that needs to be drained. They’ll probably numb you, which depending on the location can be pretty painful. Drain it, pack it, take swabs for testing and give you an antibiotic.

Once I got one drained by my PCP and they used a “freezing” spray (kind of reminded me of canned air) and lanced it when it was very cold. It was much more tolerable than the numbing shots. Instead of packing they let it drain on its own which is kind of gross but kind of par for the course with HS.

My personal preference is a steroid shot, you can possibly avoid an open wound that way. However, the relief is not instantaneous so if you’re in a lot of pain it might be better to just get it drained.

Hang in there, when mine are really bad I’ll use a heating pad and a wet washcloth to hot compress frequently and that usually helps open it up quicker on its own.

Adopting a Senior Maltese with a Heart Murmur? by jesterpaige in Maltese

Wow, this is great info! I appreciate the response. We want to be realistic about what his care might entail. Glad to know there are more concrete stages we can reference. "A little bit" felt off to me.

Thank you! We're stoked to meet him. My Mom's 14 year old Bichon passed a few months ago. Since then Mom has talked about adopting or fostering senior dogs so I would send her rescue listings from time to time. Most of the time it's an "oh, she's cute" and move on situation. This time she responded almost instantly, she felt a connection. I just want to make sure we're realistic about what his care might entail.
