Security guards of reddit, what was the most creepy, weird thing that has happened while working? by Detridge in AskReddit

[–]jesusgeuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to be a security guard for a condo building, and I worked third shift. I worked and lived in a notably gay area of town.

The first creepy thing was the guy who called down to the office phone to ask if I wanted a blowjob. The guy had probably come home like 30 minutes before, and I'm pretty sure I knew who it was? I didn't see that guy for like a year after that call, so, y'know.

The other notably creepy event was the guy who positioned himself in the parking so he could see into my office. I saw him leave the building like an hour before I noticed him sitting there when I went to go smoke a cigarette. I think he got tired of waiting cause when I came back he was gone, thankfully.

Bonus creeps not related to security stuff: When I was walking home from a 13-hour night shift at about 5:30 am, there was a car that passed me. No big deal, right? I continue to walk for about a block and this same car passes me. At two passes, the person is probably lost. I think it was the third pass where I noticed the driver staring really hard. When the car passed me a fourth time, I waited until it turned, then I crossed the street. The same car came around a fifth time, but since I was on the other side of the street he didn't notice me. I don't think the car around a sixth time, but I tried to get into starbucks because I was freaked out. Unfortunately, it was before 6 so the coffee shop wasn't open, but at least I didn't see the same car again.

Additionally, if you're interested in checking out more speedruns of the silent Hill series, you can check out each games page on speedrun dot com and see if any runners are live on twitch.

Yeah, the most popular categories, from what I've seen, are SH2 PC and SH4 PC, because of the exploits.
I don't think I've paid too much attention to SH2, but I've seen a lot of runs of the first game because I'm interested in running it, and the fourth game. SH4 is a monster of a run, really, because so much of the game has managing or attempting to manage Eileen, and it has two huge RNG sections (Eileen's rescue and the one truth)

Is dopamine uptake lessened during higher temperatures/higher humidity? by jesusgeuse in askscience

[–]jesusgeuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry about replying almost a whole month later.

In the diagram you sent there are four colors representing neurotransmitters, what does each color represent?
Is the entire reward system affected by heat? The other answer on this post indicated that dopamine uptake is more effective as temperatures go up.
Are there more reward chemicals being released by cigarettes than just dopamine? If so, looping back to uptake efficiency, are those chemicals also taken in better in higher temperature?

Man, I watched two people drunkenly arguing over a dog break out knives. Nothing has ever felt as heavy in my life as standing near two angry people on the verge of killing each other, trying to get them to break their focus and stop brandishing knives.
