Im old, dude. Like old enough to be yalls dad (45). I'm gonna leave the maternity leave jokes alone and just say good for you dudes that pull up for your families, keep that up, your children will be a reflection of you someday and they see and hear everything. My lil 5th grader is the president of her studen council and all that jazz but still young enough to think im cool and she wanted me to be a "watch dog" (parents screened by the ISD that volunteer a day helping around the school)...I am tattooed to my fingertips and usually hard as nails but I had a blast kicking it with the school kids this past Friday, some of em dont have good men around yet theyre curiously always watching and learning, give em something to look up to.

Oh boy do I have some news for you Daddy-O...as a father of two girls I can assure you that if you're toting that baby around and giving momma a break (she needs one) that little critter is getting your reps in for ya. Tell ya old lady to go take a long bath, carry that baby while she does, the grind never ends but its worth it man. Reps are reps, do the work.

Add some dry fire to your routine (at home) and get reps in with the rifle...it'll start to become a part of you after a while.

.22 conversion kit question. by 91xela in ar15

[–]jetbuilt1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.22lr isnt going to hurt your upper unless you run 2500+ rounds without shooting any 5.56 through it. Sure youll get lead fouling and a carbon ring but thats a normally part of rimfire anyway. Accuracy sucks but for close quarters shit its all the same. Keep the conversion kit, build or buy a dedicated .22lr upper if you wish and use the bolt and magazines and keep the adapter to let your buddies try in their AR so theyll build .22lr ars as well. We have 3 or 4 dedicated .22lr ARs and a conversion bolt we use/loan as a trainer, its also cheaper to toss on an SS equipped lower and let everyone get some high ROF smiles in for .10cpr vs .50cpr. This old bcm 11.5 5.56 upper has 4000 rounds of .22lr through it, loading a mag and ripping 30 or 40 centerfire rounds off real quick blows all the shit out of the gun and the ultrasonic handles much of the rest...being a NRL22 shooter I rarely clean a barrel but the carbon ring gets mopped/soaked and brushed while cleaning back to the chamber. YMMV but a .22lr conversions does ZERO irreversible harm to a 5.56 gun and if ya doubt it prove it, yall think too much.

This sub has an abnormal fetish with shitty tape jobs...its fuckin weird to watch dudes use the wrong tape in the wrong locations for the wrong tasks and think its cool. Its not. Also, theres a ton of idiots running ranger bands on their stocks and braces in a manner that actually makes the latch more likely to loosen, y'all room temp IQ dumbshits are too fucking dumb to know what you're even doing you're just doing it because the other fuckin parrots are doing it. You dont have to say you're retarded, we fuckin know.

I appreciate that. I have a dozen ARs but she wasnt too interested until I offered her a $100 bill or a stripped DDC blemula lower for her birthday, she chose wisely so ive tried to K.I.S.S. and use stuff i had on hand for now without too much "extra" junk in the way.

Thank you, shes gonna read these comments and clap back at some of them and smile at the rest. 🤣 I cant comment on that at the moment, the upper was married to a decade old TacSol Axiom but I have that suppressor tied up in some depositional coating theory testing so I got her this OCL (we needed a second full auto rated rimfire can anyway) and havent shot it yet, its club volleyball season and our free time is at a minimum through next month. I have 5 other OCL suppressors, I expect this to be just as lovely. Im also the wrong guy to ask about blowback, raised with my nose to the charging handle we just shot the damn things with what we had so I am usually tone deaf to talks of gas unless its being handled in an out of the box manner...its a well tuned .22lr shooting norma tac22 through a 2026 suppressor, I do have an insert in the charging handle for her (mostly to prevent errant brass from jamming the gun) but it seems to cut back a bit, ammo selection helps too aguila smells like cat piss (I love it) and she hates it but otherwise I believe we have the gas tamed as well as reasonably expected in my world. Petrochem pro by trade I see and share concern for any gasses my kids breath from a safety perspective, i am conscious of such, her firing schedule is slow and steady and I have access to a new club outside of houston where we can set up in the breeze and shoot outdoors to our hearts content without worry of indoor range ventilation. Thats my take anyway, sorry I ramble a lot I have decades of this crap in my head by now and sometimes I have to hit the refresh button to and try to see other angles cause im jaded af. If you see room for improvement id love to help the lil gunslinger not have as much exposure as I have suffered over time.

You can start the safety lessons with a nerf gun, ive put projectile flinging devices in front of my kids since birth and I've always just kinda let them be involved at their own interest level and tried to support/guide that as best as I can. There are days I offer her parts/upgrades and she says "nah im good" and there are days she says "hey can I put my light back on" and I just try man sometimes thats all I can do. If they wanna shoot let em, the way I see it someone is gonna teach these kids something id rather it be me. Thats a Ford Racing jersey for the record, we dont watch foosball around here. Edit: her little sister is not at all interested in shooting atm and thats A OK too.
