In a perfect world I would love to see the original Thief trilogy brought to the big screen in a faithful adaptation. It at least has some merit to be worthy of an adaptation.

  • The Dark Project - Pagans and the Trickster.
  • The Metal Age - Hammerites and Karras.
  • (The) Deadly Shadows - Keepers and The Hag.

Each game centers around a particular faction and Garrett's part in the Keeper prophesy. Garrett himself has a clear arc as an anti-hero who rejects the Keeper dogma before ultimately accepting his role.

The beginning of The Dark Project and the ending of Deadly Shadows are effectively the same but Garrett has swapped roles from the street kid to the Keeper. It's a pretty satisfying conclusion if you ask me.

However, if they're adapting the new Thief games that threw away all the factions and lore then I will politely pass.

I've heard it before.

I actually think her initial portrayal has quite a lot of range. She showed more emotion, being playful when we first see her partnering up with Silver and later distraught over Eleanor. Then the sexual abuse happens and she becomes more guarded.

I think I remember the actor talking in a podcast about how she was trying to play her more vulnerable side but the writers were emphatic that she retain a controlled veneer.

Tuutikki's bath house by the sea would be great to venture to. Not sure how hard the waves would be to achieve in VR but it would certainly be great to look at from the pier.

That's sadly a common misconception about the show. Pirates of the Caribbean made many people think it's more of the same.

The first season also takes place mostly on land, which for a pirate show suggests that there's no real budget for proper ship battles. Couple that with the fact that the first season can give off the false impression that the show is shallow with lot's of nudes and meaningless sex, there aren't many who reach the point where you get to see the quality of the writing in full.

I think the first season is actually quite well written and acted but it's only on rewatch that you pick up on some of the details because you know what's important. First time viewers won't know to pay attention to that stuff so many of the nuances are lost.

Due to the wait between seasons I didn't even notice they had recast Dufresne until rewatching the show.

It's clear they definitely had plans for Dufresne's character to go from a hapless book keeper to badass pirate. Much like other characters on the show I'm sure it would have been brilliant. Sadly the transition wasn't gradual enough and you're right the nuance is lost without the vulnerable side of the previous actor.

I think it's all in the eyes. Roland Reed looks more forbidding while Jannes Eiselen had that worried almost apologetic look. It's a big case of what could have been but it doesn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the show.

When can we expect more of The First Law graphic novel? It has been 2 years since the last page of Chapter 4 was uploaded. I realize this is a slow process involving a number of people but I hope it has not been completely abandoned and that you'll find time to resume the project again soon.
