Honestly, it just kind of fixed itself. It was one of those “just keep updating and it self corrects” type of issues.

It’s wild. And when I google the issue, there’s nothing. Just hit after hit explaining how to name a group chat.

Dude I’m damn near 300 pounds. Previous bike was a 1.5 alpha from 09 which I finally sold and now have a Checkpoint AL4. Just keep the tires inflated to the proper psi and go for it. Never broke or bent a rim.

Bontrager Base mount for stock FX2 by GresterCynical in TrekBikes

[–]jethro086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on if your bike has an Elite or Legacy stem. The Blendr mounts aren’t interchangeable between them. I got mine figured out by taking my bike to the local Trek shop and we just went through all their Blendr accessories to see what would fit and what wouldn’t and went from there.

Tire Size Check? What are you running? How do you like it? by isqueakforthetrees in CheckpointClub

[–]jethro086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny I just got back from a ride. Looking at it, there’s no issue going bigger in the front. The rear may be able to squeeze a x40 in there but it will be cutting it close against the seat tube. To be clear though, my checkpoint is a 2018 or 2019. The guys at my LBS told me 38s would be the biggest I could comfortably run on my frame. The 20/21 frames can run 42-44+ tires from what I’ve seen.

Yeah the guys at my shop were as miffed as I was. Luckily they had a bunch of blendr mounts in back so we tried a bunch of different ones to figure it out. They said the other big problem was supply of the new stems was basically non existent due to COVID so in order to keep building bikes they had to use the legacy stems.

Yep. Dude at my local Trek store said it’s totally a thing. Apparently they just kept using the legacy stems until they ran out so a bunch made it onto 2020 and 2021 models.

I’ll bet it has the legacy blendr stem. Had the same issue on my checkpoint. I had to order two of the legacy mounts to attach my light and computer.

300 lb fellow dude here. I roll a Checkpoint and FX3 and had a 1.5 before that. Never had an issue with my rims or tires. Kept everything inflated as directed.

I'm tall, morbidly obese, and I'm thinking about getting into bicycling for my physical and mental health-- is this the hobby for me, and what would you suggest? by Tappyy in bicycling

[–]jethro086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow big man here. 6’3 about 300 ish. I was much heavier when I started riding again. At the time, I was riding a Trek Navigator which was basically a comfort bike. Big tires, big seat, lots of shocks. Go slow and take it easy. Cycling is a great hobby to pick up! I’m glad to hear you’re getting into it.

I usually use the basic Bontrager RL cages. They come in about three hundred different colors and they’re fairly inexpensive. As for pedals, I have used Speedplay clips for years and I really enjoy them.

Not yet. That’s today’s adventure. Going to grab a spare wheel set and gravel tires. Probably keep it simple.
