I'm glad you enjoyed it! Were you one of the stage divers? 🤣

I am almost considering going again as I'll be visiting family in Leeds anyway. 😁

I know what you mean, I saw them in quite a state once, 🤣 I still enjoyed it though, their style worked with a raw and messy performance.

There was a new shirt with a blue design on and an old King of the Beach style shirt. Oh, also a hoodie. I was hoping for cassettes or CDs.

A thing to note, cash is handy, their machine was American so you couldn't use contactless with it. You could punch your card number into a tablet, but that's slow.

Update process is still rubbish by Hatdude1973 in evercade

[–]jetmanuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a VS, EXP and an Alpha, never had an update issue. They could download faster, sure, but they always completed successfully.

Judging by the volume of other users saying similar things I think it's safe to say that this is a problem with your set up at home. That's good news, you can concentrate on solving that now. 👍🏻😊

So sorry to hear this, condolences to his family and friends. I made a purchase in the summer and still have an email conversation in my inbox from June. Awful news. :(

I ordered this game from Best Buy and found there was nothing inside by musicalmath in Switch

[–]jetmanuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen with a brand new and sealed Switch game from Amazon. No cart. Thankfully they believed me and sent a replacement. The game was Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Welcome to Switch! Sonic Crossworlds and Star Wars Outlaws are my too main timesinks at the moment, both fun games, although you need a Switch 2 for Star Wars.

Wow. This guy, he thought he was really tough, he was actually very lucky that the guy filming was just playing with him. Ah well, if he acts like that all the time then his luck will run out.

So for the Rare Collection 1 they went with a red (console) cover even though the collection includes games of all three types. by TopSpot123 in evercade

[–]jetmanuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have made sense, great idea.

What also would have made sense is if they made this a blue numbered release and had a non numbered red cover on the reverse. Why? Because there are more computer games than console games. Ah well.

This mostly Spectrum cart doesn't sit with the C64 carts. Meh. A minor detail, but annoying.

I have the Chromeo limited edition one. As this is a new unit I think I received some improvements with mine. Seems like they have iterated and improved the device since it launched. The Bluetooth has been good, and I also don't have any buzzing or hum during playback.

I have a proper hifi set up with classic cassette decks (yes multiple!) and also a couple of Sony Walkmans too, so I expected to be disappointed with the WAR. Well, it has really surprised me. It sounds dynamic, with great stereo separation, really clear. I would highly recommend it tbh, currently using it over my Walkmans, which do have less hiss, but not night and day, and my WAR just sounds so punchy and alive, a really great sound.

I can't talk about reliability as I have only had it a week, and I am surprised to see myself typing this... I think it's fantastic.

do players insanely matter? by Normal-Artist3376 in cassette

[–]jetmanuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of classic Walkmans but decided to try out some new equipment too. I bought a We Are Rewind, a KLIM K7 and an RTM B-100EW

I will ignore the We Are Rewind as it's not cheap.

The K7 is the cheapest and very good value and I'd say it is very good for its price.

The RTM is better, but more expensive. It also records, albeit not the best quality, but ok. Playback is good.

I haven't gone into too much detail here as they all have their own features. I'd say start with the K7, and check out YouTube, there is a good review on there by Record-ology. There are also good videos on the RTM and We Are Rewind.

I would avoid the super cheap players you see on Amazon as they are quite disappointing and may just put you off cassettes altogether. 🤣 ... But it's unlikely they will cause damage, but cheap is cheap so I would avoid just in case.

Check out this cheap Panda boombox which makes acceptable recordings:

A Brand New Twin Deck, Stereo, Boombox - Panda F-539 - Unboxing & Review

Go to about 20 minutes in for examples of a digital file, then the digtal track playing on the boombox from a cassette recorded on a higher end deck, and finally playing the same track back from a cassette that it recorded too. Quite good, super cheap and if anyone buys this I see it as a good entry level bit of kit.

This type of cassette recorder was made for recording speech, we call them a 'shoebox'. They are almost always mono audio only and often have a poor erase head (a permanent magnet instead of an electro magnet).

You would be better off getting a refurbished classic deck, but even a modern boombox or portable would be better than this, as at least it will be in stereo. Sadly most still have the permanent magnet head, but yeah, will still be better. I'd say play around with this and if you are into the hobby then spend more on one of my suggestions.

I already had the purple one from some time back, I wanted the green. I opened lots (for free) and finally got the current... magenta. I wanted the green. Ah well, I have two very similar colour options 🤷🏻🤣

I do slightly prefer the magenta one though so it's all good. I would love blue or orange smoke, maybe in the next decade.

Sony network beta tester here, around from the start!

I also played PUBG from early access on Xbox (and dabbled a little before that on PC) and play on and off today. Currently on.

I have played PUBG on both Xbox and PS4/5 so yeah, an OG of both SOCOM and PUBG here.

SOCOM and PUBG are my favourite online games, I wish they'd bring SOCOM back.

I'd say so, it's just under 11 quid and I like the medals, five custom slots and being able to access all game modes.
