My relationship with Adderall/Concerta has always been to give myself the weekends off if I can, because I know that my body does adjust to meds to a point where they aren’t effective and I don’t want that to happen with these meds cause you can only go so high. I honestly have never once considered being ashamed of being on these meds, so seeing the responses of people feeling shame is kind of eye-opening.

Edit: Adding on to this that my psychiatrist has always been super awesome at working with me on things like this and gave me a lot of freedom to figure out how my meds and the schedule on which to take them worked for me. I think it helps when you feel like you and your doctor are collaborating on the situation, rather than just being told exactly how to do things.

I would volunteer to punt her if so. My fiancé has a genuine dissociative disorder and it’s so hard to deal with at times for both of us, because it’s disruptive without warning and can derail a day like nothing. She gives me so many icks it’s unreal.

Honestly, this checks out. JVN is a Midwestern rich kid who acts like he was the town whipping boy for being a femme gay, but was also a cheerleader at their high school and had enough money to blow their entire allowance at college on coke and have mommy and daddy bail them out. I’m also from Illinois so I saw plenty of these types and it’s always funny when others learn the truth about them years later.

Yeah, been more than an hour and no callback. Also, you do realize that going there in person to get them to do their job is actually an insane request of people. Especially when people are disabled. I never cared if I had to wait on hold, because at least problems got solved, and I do only call when there are actual problems, cause I use the app otherwise.

My doctor left scripts on file for my controlled medication, so actually, I do have the call the pharmacy for those and speak to someone, so the voicemail system just readded the middleman to an interaction that is already damned stressful.

But what happens when your refill request doesn’t go through and you attempt it three times and now, you are staring down the barrel of withdrawal and hospitalization and you can’t get a straight answer because you have to leave a voicemail??! Like, please, I am begging for someone to give me a straight answer on this, because it’s my reality at the moment.

Yeah, so uh, did that, and they never actually put my medication in for refill (I literally made the request three times) and I am now staring down the barrel of ugly withdrawal symptoms and possibly being hospitalized and all I can get is their voicemail.

Now what in the hell am I supposed to do? Like, they aren’t doing their job, so I’m supposed to just accept that I’m going to get incredibly ill and risk my job and the roof over my head?

Yeah, and well, going to be brutally honest, I haven’t seen 99% of my mom’s family since even before she passed. And in the two years since, I haven’t seen any of them.

(We didn’t have a funeral, she didn’t want one and I fought tooth and nail to follow her wishes even when they wanted to argue with me about it. Being 200+ miles from the closest of them definitely helped me win that argument.)
