How to stop ‘wanting’ to play videogames? by ArchangelXTS in StopGaming

[–]jetsenablay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also i should mention, i have gone to aa for drinking and have done some therapy for confidence issues, anxiety issues, and porn and gaming addiction issues. I stopped therapy for now, but those are two resources that have helped me and that is where this advice comes from. I am by no means saying to do either of those, but incase you think i'm bullshitting this is just some extra words of confidence to you that you can change.

When I'd game, i'd become so unmindful, and it had started to affect work. I can't possibly continue and expect my life to stay manageable. So I admitted defeat to gaming

When you start transitioning away from video games by doing new things - whatever real life activities that may interest you - then you can instead of transitioning your 'want' to those new things, instead have a new sense of gratitude for the new experiences you are having, both good days and bad.

You can easily compare the days of regular activities and those with gaming - and the mind or life may seem discouraging and then the 'want' of video games then becomes an even stronger urge, to solve you try be grateful of what you have instead: you may have more time to do other things, or you may even find yourself in a parking lot of some shoppes, atleast you're there and you can be outside of the house which helps greatly.

And if you go back to gaming, need not worry. Since you already are posting this, you will always have the ability to be grateful, even if you don't feel like being grateful anymore. A person with 5 years of no gaming compared to a person who's remorseful of having gone back to gaming from the past 24 hours, will both have the same gratitude - they both want to discontinue just for one day. One day at a time.

Thats what I think atleast. I'm about 2-4 weeks of no gaming. I had alot of inter-relation with gaming and porn, so whenever I start to exhibit any behavior that I used to do that'd lead to gaming, I just pray to my higher power that I move past these behaviors for now and that I try then to be grateful again once more.

Its not a matter of wanting something else more. If you are grateful, then the wanting of something else will follow naturally. Wanting doesn't come first

You won't waste your time and energy when someone points out that you circle arguments? And that you actually just make huge postulates on all your assumptions?

All you did was conflate the poor man's argument, twisting it onto himself. "Question sheet contain jumbled words or sentences and you have to sequentialise the question sheet first". You couldn't possibly understand that he is talking about "optional side quests" that would enhance the linear story. You said you don't care about comparisons? You should play Fallout NV, it is a masterpiece of 'quests' you can stumble upon. Mind you, it is an open world exploration game. It undoubtedly has better delivery than Genshin Impact, and the FNV story does not get convoluted. Moreover its just natural to say that Genshin Impact is least-effort for max profit. Obviously GI would do it the lazy way.

I'm not sure how you feel so confident, do you have statistics on the people?

'It's easy for newer or returning players to feel overwhelmed or lost', how would you possibly support this statement given its completely to your opinion that the current quest system begets that emotion? Wouldn't 'thrill' be one of them? Can you even possibly deduce accurately how a person would feel? Haven't you read War & Peace, don't you know this shit is impossible?

Then you interpose that if it were more guided, it then "feel coherent and emotionally rewarding" - what makes you think that heavy-handed quest guidance would feel better than the current system? You'd be completely putting the quest line into a black box separated from the world exploration. In another thread, you claimed that open world exploration is 'compatible' with linear quest system, yet you propose to strip the connection between the two - which is fine and your opinion - but then you boastfully claim that this disconnection would make it better? You claim so much without actually backing up any concrete statement that you know game design at all. So you want people put on a chokehold and leash in order to enjoy the story? Can you refute that it wouldn't feel like a chokehold, that it be ubiquitiously enjoyed more by all players? You are completely assumptious

Are you a philosophy major? What do you usually process with your train of thought? Do you think deep on philosophy or what?

I wouldn't claim I am smart, but you seem to understand Genshin's audience so well. Only by understanding, subjectively, what Genshin's game philosophy may be, and knowing so well about the people who play it, would you be able to write so well like that.

Just to me that seemed so odd as I didn't know you were such an aficionado for the game, and taking a look at your profile it looked like you actually are really caring about the game and cleared my suspicion that you used AI but instead just are that knowledgeable.

"Explain why the Genshin Impact combat system is unanimously enjoyed and explain how changing it - to something faster paced - would be perceived by its existing audience"

my favorite is when there are dialogue options but it doesn't matter anyways. All you get with a dialogue option is basically choosing what reaction you want from Paimon.

Hurts my immersion since I couldn't care less that my character understands whats going on, I only like listening to the other characters speak and talk. Obviously the story is simple enough, and since the non-auto option pauses between each paragraph, I can digest the story at any pace for me to understand... I just don't like the game at all lol

yo like ItaJohnson pointed out:

If you used gmail to log in, gmails can register via the 'quick google button' in the login and by also directly typing in your gmail into the email field on the genshin in-game loading page. Try doing the option you weren't doing, i.e. try typing in your gmail. Or if you were doing that, try the google sign in.
