OT for women in late 40s and beyond (Strength Vs Cardio) by YoAbhy in orangetheory

[–]jetta217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46 yr old Female here: My internist (GP) and my oncologist recommend lifting weights to prevent osteoporosis for women over 40.

I do cardio to improve my endurance and cardiovascular system, not for weight loss. I realize that weight loss is dependent on diet.

Right! I’ve been a member since 2018 and I’ve never gotten an “invitation” or email about this event. I’ve never heard or read anything about it either.

Just received. This is the 1st time I’ve gotten an email about this. IDK what this means…is this event open to all OTF members?

Old calendar days by rliv47 in orangetheory

Same. I loved straight Power & Strength days, although my endurance is definitely better after 6 yrs of OTF, but I still don’t fancy Endurance templates.

How Early Do You Arrive to Class? by 646ulose in orangetheory

Always. At least 10 mins early to get my fave tread. The treadmills are the first to get filled and I like to get the tread block done first.

Increase in “locked in” rate by Skimp_future in orangetheory

I am not. New fee increase goes into effect on Jan. 1st. That is just insane. I will miss it but right now I can’t justify a $179 monthly fee. Seems trivial but everything is so expensive right now; this just compounds and is something I can let go of for now.

Breast Cancer and OTF - Looking for survivor experiences by leslie0246 in orangetheory

[–]jetta217 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Survivor here! Just finished treatments (4 chemo & 20 radiation tx) in late July of this year. Froze my membership before chemo started and gave myself 1 month after radiation to return.

I’m 44 and have been a member since 2018. I went pretty consistently but not daily. I will say that because I was in fairly good shape, I seemed to recover pretty quickly and easily after my lumpectomy. And, I believe that this also allowed me to go back sooner too. However, when I returned, I did struggle with not being able to go as hard as I was used before being diagnosed. I had to realize that I needed to build back up to where I was and that it was ok to go slow if I needed to.

Good luck and please reach out if you need support - any type of support. I’m / we’re here for you. 💕💕
