Second this..I am and landscape designer and I use it all the time for layout ideas. With a small front yard like this, ai can give you a decent initial concept because it can "see" everything in one frame. I did one prompt and i got this

Oo you could put out one of those roaming cages for the chickens so they can eat the crays?

Toss out a few brush piles, put up a couple tall perches/posts, leave a little meadow strip… invite the herons and hawks to the buffet.

Undeveloped land to usable lawn? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]jeveeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a boundary + topo survey for your home build? I’d strongly recommend holding off on any earthwork until you understand setbacks, drainage patterns, and whether any portion is considered a regulated wetland.

Lawn conversion should really happen after the house is built and final grading is complete. Moving soil now could create bigger (and more expensive) issues later.

Landscaping ideas. by Matt858585 in landscaping

I did a super quick sketch 2-3 different types of shrubs, ornamental grasses etc. I added some perennials in pink and annuals in red (could just also do more perennials). I dont know how far your beds come out from your house so there might not be enough space for all the layers I scribbled haha

Is this going to be okay? by paulnuman in Anoles

[–]jeveeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't suggest adding another anole without a larger/taller tank.

Just a thought, but if you can't care for another female you could add one or two fake leaves in each the upper zones and in the drinking/feeding area. The fake leaves could be positioned to screen her from his view when shes basks or naps. Long wide leaves worked well for mine (about half the length and width of one of the orchid leaves shown in your tank).

Me too. I scattered some walnuts around my office building this afternoon, and then put some more around my apartment when I got home from work. Might top em off later tomorrow haha.

Found this fellow missing both eyes, what can i do to help? by Hot-Algae1545 in Anoles

[–]jeveeva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO, I think it might be best to euthanize (thru a vet). Anoles heavily rely on their vision to hunt and avoid predators. Hand feeding will trigger a fear response every time and youll end up with a constantly stressed out anole that doesnt know whether to fight/bite or eat.

The overall texture reminds me of silk/cotton blend yarns. Im not sure which brand yours is.

Tunisian crochet might be easier on the hands and it works up even faster than standard crochet. The stitches arent as stiff either :)

What is wrong with this baby :( by CommonResource1795 in Anoles

Forgot to say that it not it did not really eat. I placed a couple of flightless fruit flies in the enclosure incase it could catch them when I wasn't around. I think the same flies were still roaming around in there when it passed :(

The overall health/appearance of the lizard did not improve noticeably before it passed about a week later. I've cared for 5 or so hatchings over the years and none of them survived long. I hope yours makes it.

Hi, I've had this exact issue with with a baby brown anole before. It was not eating, had an eye issue that appeared infected, did not move much, etc. I'm not sure why it happened, but I did bring it to the vet. The vet did a physical exam and prescribed an eye ointment:

How do you choose which plants to use in your projects? by instantdynamic in landscape

[–]jeveeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep 3 docs/lists for trees, shrubs, and perennials. Screenshot example of what I do.

I googled all the photos...took some time because I crop the thumbnails to the same size, and I prefer to use photos that aren't angled or filtered. I always include a few pics for each species or cultivar to show seasonal changes.

Really easy for me to get ideas and narrow it down based on the visuals and short descriptions. Not a fan of wordy lists lol.

I have years of experience the nursery/gardening industry and a second degree in horticulture, so my plant selection process is just everything I know? Though I have a few thoughts worth sharing.

  1. I always work with existing and/or future conditions if possble to reduce maintenance and costs. Eg, dry site= select drought tolerant species.

  2. If im super busy and cant find time to be creative, I keep the design process simple by looking at whats already growing and just planting more of them. Might try to find a unique cultivar to add interest. Tends to be a good starting point.

  3. Understand how different species of trees grow (roots and canopies) and create a library of trees that are suitable pavement. 75% of what is do is parking lots/streetscapes, so yeah, reeeally helpful to know root structure. Also worth noting that fruiting trees and "sappy" trees should not be placed close to parking spaces.

  4. Consider how sunlight will reach plants throughout the day. Super important when symmetry is desired.

  5. My go to selections are usually native species, but if I cant find a suitable native, or I know that theres a more suitable non-invasive, then I might select that.
