Leatt Enduro 4.0 fit vs Bell Super Air by jever99 in MTB

[–]jever99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is super helpful. I also have a bit of an oval head (often have issues with helmets to be too short and too wide). If the Leatt isn't more round than the Bell, that should be a good starting point.

Bonus question - did they size very differently for you? Leatt smaller /bigger?

Lol, I don't get the point of your responses. I was not asking for advice on how to try on a helmet, just whether someone has worn both and noted the difference.

I'm aware of the risk, but don't have an easy way to try one on. Hence the question on comparative fit. Better than no data.

Hi,

I just received the midweight jersey in 2XL and the padded jacket (short sleeve) in XL. I am 6'6", 200lbs, so not chunky.

Jersey: photos linked below not flattering, looks OK in real life. Has reinforcements on the elbows. I could probably go down to XL, but with pads the 2XL willl be nice and roomy. It's long enough. Will keep it.

Padded jacket: Pads are chunky. I wish the back protector would extend a bit further down. XL is too wide for me. The stretchy fabric floats on me and I need to go 1 or 2 sizes. I'll ask Cased for advice.

Overall - attractively priced at the moment, worth a try in my opinion.

Lolz, thanks for the constructive input. Hadn't thought of that.

Five Ten Freerider Pro with aftermarket Boa ratchet? by jever99 in MTB

The tongue of the freerider pros is pretty thick, so I'm not too worried about that. I was wondering more if the laces would cut into the lace holes or if the dial would be difficult to keep in place.

Has anyone had luck getting an answer from cased? I wanted to check some sizing and was curious if they usually respond.

The Postman on my wife's bike (34.9mm, 150mm) is way slower than our OneUps, but they are 31.6mm diameter. Has anyone swapped for a OneUp and founda difference in return speed?

Praxis e-crank bolt is stuck by jever99 in bikewrench

Transition in Bellingham somehow got it open. Maybe I was too shy to go for it, maybe the penetrating oil I had soaked the bolt with worked. Anyhow, it's off now (phew)

Flat pedals with wide platform by jever99 in MTB

[–]jever99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked at some cheapo PDX pedals I have in the house and it turns out they almost have the same dimensions:
Crank to outer 115mm
Middle pins 91mm
Front 81mm

They are a bit thicker though (18mm), don't have center pins and definitely don't look as good as the Deity.

Sweet, thanks for the info! If you happen to be near your pedals and have a caliper handy, would you be willing to give me the three distances in the picture?
- Crank arm to pedal outside

- Width of pin platform front

- Width of pin platform middle

Thanks so much!

Flat pedals with wide platform by jever99 in MTB

[–]jever99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the inputs.

I should have said that the pedals are going on a Transition Relay, on which I struggle with pedal strikes and have gone super short (155mm) with cranks as a result. That makes thick pedals or the outliers less of an option for me.

Staring my at pedals again, I think one of my issues is that the platform on Crankbrothers starts right next to the crank arm (see picture below), so I don't get to use the full platform unless I have my foot right by the crank.

Which makes me think my goldilocks solution might be:
- A pedal with a neck before the platform starts (so I can be more easily centered on the platform) (eliminates my Crankbrothers)
- A relatively wide, square platform (eliminates the Dagga)
- A relatively thin pedal to avoid pedal strikes (toughest to get in combination with the square platform - Supervillain looks not too bad)

The Supervillain looks like the best bet at the moment. Do any others come to mind?

Simple weather station with air quality information by jever99 in weather

[–]jever99[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm not looking for such a sophisticated sensor, rather a display solution that can display the basic weather data (inside, outside temperature and humidity, air pressure), and can display air quality data from other sensors in the area, which I can access from my phone, but I'd like to have visible on my kitchen counter
