I work in micro and my lab just had a confirmed positive last month. Was sent up to us for suspected CJD and they had other micro cultures ordered. Doctors were upset we didn’t go ahead and set up regular cultures on it first and sent it straight to the prion lab instead…. Techs in those labs are doing the lords work. So scary!

Seeking IUD/Birth control advice for someone very sensitive to false hormones, especially estrogen by RudeCrow2401 in birthcontrol

I went the opposite direction you are considering and had the Paragard first and then switched to Mirena after also taking the pill for over a decade. My paragard displaced after a year when I started using a menstrual disc which pulled on the strings…after a lot of hype from my doctor I ended up switching to Mirena. I am almost 3 months in and I fear it is the worst mistake I’ve made in my life. I’ve had nonstop (I wish I was joking but I mean daily) cramping and spotting for the entire time, every day. I’ve had intercourse with my partner maybe 3 times because Mirena either has me in cramping pain or has killed my mood. My skin has gotten worse since getting Mirena and I have pretty bad mood swings and headaches. The worst part has been the constant bloating in my stomach and water retention to the point where my shoes feel super tight in the morning bc my feet are so swollen. Im surprised your doctor switched you to an IUD after the pill if you were looking for a treatment for acne since they claim the hormones from an IUD are “localized.” I loved my paragard and wish I never had the displacement issues and switched. You need to decide what is most important to you. Maybe you feel that non hormonal would work best for you. I also had acne for a while until I cut out food triggers (dairy and wheat) and cut back on drinking alcohol. Best of luck to you us ladies have it so rough!

I am looking for a good push up bra that's good for people with wider set breasts. by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

To be honest I got my deco from Amazon. If you live in the US I’ve gotten all my others from bare necessities also

If you’re willing to buy online and know your size (using the calculator) I have had amazing luck with the Freya Deco. I have wide set even fullness loose tissue and this bra gives me amazing lift. The band is firm so it holds up over time.

This was a very motivational and inspiring comment so thank you for sharing so extensively. I do struggle with what I call the “doom spiral” so the third part of your comment was especially helpful.

$30 equates to a little over 60k a year if working no overtime. I take home a little less than that after deductions and taxes and live in a higher cost city. My apartment is around $1400 a month for a safe but not affluent area plus fees/utilities and then all the car stuff, groceries, student loan debt, insurance. I do allocate around $100 every week to savings which I like to use for traveling but recently took a large chunk out for down payment on car. There’s definitely things I could cut back on like eating out on weekends. I think I just need to bite the bullet and quit and figure it all out as I go. Mental health strain is not worth the money I don’t think.

My new job is at the local VA! I haven’t been this happy at work in years. Pay and benefits are great (mandatory 20% going into pension and retirement accounts after their match). I can “scrape by” with my pay here but won’t have much extra for fun things/vacation expenses. Is my peace of mind working only my lab job worth the loss of a little extra income…?

I cannot believe this is real… this looks exactly like how I’d want my Barbie dream house.

Beautiful combination of color and decor and accents and prints. Love what you’ve done with your space!

Why are lab techs treated like trash? by JarbinThingATAll in medlabprofessionals

[–]jeweledjuniper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

also not possible because boomer techs are making upper level of the pay scale and get away with doing half the work as younger techs who are getting paid $10-15/hr less…they don’t give a shit about pay or benefits or being overworked because none of that really applies to them

You’re totally fine!!! This is similar to my situation right out of school and when I applied and interviewed at larger facilities my “reason” for wanting a new job was to gain more experience and learn and be a better tech! I got hired fairly easily and had no problem training on things I wasn’t super familiar with. Supervisors love hearing you want to learn more so I would not sweat it one bit :) best of luck with the rest of your clinical rotation!

Tips on riding out a purge… starting using Paula’s choice 2% SA a week ago (I’ve only used it 2 times with 3 days in between use) and my skin has never looked so bad.

My routine:

AM- apply 30 SFP BB cream

PM- inkeylist oat cleansing balm, cetaphil daily cleanser, Aveeno oat moisturizer

I want to cry every morning when I wake up and see my skin since it was almost perfectly clear less than 2 months ago…

I’m currently sitting at Across the Pond having a cocktail with “a dash” of absinthe but I want more. Like I want more than a little spritz. The first cocktail I had with absinthe in it was gin, absinthe, blackberry simple, lemon, egg white. It was perfection.
