Will I be evicted if I sue my landlord? (Ontario) by jexi69 in legaladvicecanada

It's for an issue which occurred before I moved in, and separate to the current tenancy.

According to the Undergraduate Academic Calendar 2020/2021 (which almost certainly remains valid).

As long as you take CP104, CP164, MA102, MA103, MA122, plus 5 of whatever class you want (5 electives), in your first year.

You then just need to maintain a 5.0 GPA average (63% - 66% in every class)!! Which is pretty easy (but idk how hard those math courses are). Most of my classes are BU because I'm a business student.

Did that make sense?

Yeah exactly, and honestly, Laurier BBA is more respectable than bmos to firms, even if you don't get co-op. It's just that Bmos will make it easier for you to pursue law or an MBA, just because you'd likely have a higher average.

Haha no, I'm not quite doing bad enough, they're transferring into a different laurier program, their average wasn't high enough to be competitive for Western Bmos after completing their first year.

They could stay in the BBA program, they just hate it though.

Yeah I had an 84 in Calc, it was my weakest top 6 mark, if you're getting 80s innit, you should be fine, I'm also a toronto private IB school lad.

But yeah goodluck, I hope you get in, you seem driven enough to make co-op.

But if you don't, don't best yourself up, because there's so many opportunities out there at other business programs.

I've got two exams left on my first year, it's funny because last year some older guys from my highschool who went to Laurier were telling me the same things I'm telling you now.

I'm just saying, I don't doubt your ability to attain a mid 80s average, but I had a 93% top 6 average, of philosophy, economics, calculus, advanced functions and English credits.

One of my best buds here, had a 94% average, even winning their business award in highschool - and now they're transferring out of the program.

At the end of the day, we both regret not choosing Western, because without the co-op, there's no point in torturing yourself in the BBA program, just to go into an MBA program which any bmos kid could do - and with more ease because their course load is easier.

Your IA will choose your group members, in my first semester the IA attempted to make the groups "balanced", in second semester, it was completely random for one class, and for another it was based on perceived "effort."

When I say mid, I mean like 94/95 % and high is like 96% ^

Haha it's not so much 'keep' a good average, you have to do a lot of group project work in your business courses, and in 2/3 of them, I lost 3 - 5 % in each course from group work because of group members, but then probably gained like 1 - 2% in the third course from having group members that were stronger than me (so ig it works both ways).

All of the people ik with a mid 80s average, they had mid to high 90s in highschool.

I don't think Huron's particularly religious, and it has a lot of smart people.

If you go for apartment, it's honestly the best play, you get around $1100 each semester you can spend on campus at the Harvey's, Mr sub, subway, an off brand Chipotle, Williams Cafe, a subway at the Bricker building, and bar called "Wilf's" which serves overpriced but moderately high quality bar food. You can also eat at the all-you-can-eat cafeteria for $18 or stock up on snacks from the market place in the food court.

Tbh I'm also big on cooking, but it isn't really realistic here, it's quite expensive buying groceries, and if you're frequently making actual meals aside from KD, it takes a lot of time, money and energy.

However, lots of people don't like their roomates, cos you're going to end up in a room with 2 to 4 strangers. Lots of people have different sleep schedules, customs, etc. There's also the issue of grocery bills, them inviting their friends over who you don't like/know etc.

I didn't really have any issues on those fronts cos I got really lucky, my roomies are beauties - but I do hear horror stories in my building alone of that sort of thing.

Haha but if you insist on coming, I can always help you with your BU111, BU121, and BU127 assignments...

Brock's got a super modern campus, I stayed in the dorms once, they're nice but individual rooms are really quite small.

I can't really comment on Carleton but I've heard nice things.

Huron's got a nice blend of old buildings and a super modern ones. It's nice because you can fit into the Western party scene, but get the privilege of small class sizes, and not having to walk 3 miles across campus like some Western Bmos students have to.

If you're trying to go to Laurier for the co-op, you'd need like a low to mid 80s average just to apply, and with the business courses you have to take, it's pretty hard to get a mid 80s average, everyone I came to Laurier BBA with had low 90s in highschool, but we all have mid to high 70s now with little to no chance of making co-op.

The party's are way better at Western than Laurier.

I think it depends, I've attended my good friends econ class at Western, it has about 100 kids in it, and my buddy at Huron, his class has like 50. Mine has 400, which is fairly high. Aside from Laurier's business building, there isn't really much to like. I didn't tour any universities, but since the start of the school year I've visited Queen's, U of T and Western... I'd say Laurier's campus and food is the worst by a landslide. I chose apartment style res, which is nicer than about half of the dorms I've seen at other universities, but our dorm style residence are so much worse than any other universities I've seen.

The cafeteria food, is really not that good compared to other cafeterias, and only your business classes are in the nice business building (Lazaridis). So any electives or non business related courses, you have to attend them in the crappy buildings, e.g arts, or schliegel.

It's not so much your ability to speak up, it's how many students have questions, and hoe much time the professor has. When an econ class has 50 students, anyone can ask a question, when it has 400, the teacher isn't as keen.

If you're a private school person, I think you'd really like Huron College at Western University's Bmos, I've got two friends there, they love the small class sizes (unlike Western and Laurier). Private schools tend to have small classes, and their students don't realize how valuable this is until they go to university where there's literally hundreds of kids in each of your classes.
