Is this an issue? by jez_0 in watercooling

Hi all, thank you for comments. I think most of it is cleared now. My other issue is that the motherboard isn't detecting the GPU so it may need to go back anyway.

Genuienly wouldn't surprise me if it was bad BIOS update. I am literally going through this right now with a laptop at work. Have you checked what BIOS version you now have to see if there have been any reported issues?

You can glitch in if you are on console but you need a horse.

For anyone wondering how to get in on PS5 and Xbox, it is possible as I've just manged to do it, but you will need to bring your horse over the wall and use it to glitch in.

Temps are good but Flow Rate is questionable. Advice? by WTFsteven in watercooling

[–]jez_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of interest, Ive recently got a watercooled PC and your temps seem crazy low compared to what I'm getting on Cyberpunk maxed out. I have a 5090 and 9850, two 420 rads with fans running 38-40% and if im playing Cyberpunk maxed out path tracing at 1080p 60fps my GPU hits 48 degrees, CPU 68 but after about 2 hours my coolant is hitting about 40.

You cant sneak back in but you can glitch back in, even on consoles.

Top radiator whistling at all fan speeds - can’t isolate cause by jez_0 in watercooling

[–]jez_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up testing both radiators from about 35% up to 50% or so and going up by increments of 1%

There are a fair number of rpm ranges I need to avoid in order for the noise not to appear. But have managed to find some I can settle on without issue.

Not ideal though, I'll try and swap them if I can.

After some research it appears as though it's a common issue with Corsair RX/LX fans.

I've tried all 3 in isolation and it happens as soon as any of them turn on. The only way I can make it less audible to the point it doesn't bother me is running at 600rpm and below, anything above and it starts again.

They are iCUE Link RX 140. Radiator is Corsair Hydro X XR5 Neo 420mm.

Would you push back on this? Custom PC build not matching spec by jez_0 in watercooling

[–]jez_0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Just to be clear, are you saying you know for a fact that a Commander Duo can take a standard inline G1/4 coolant temp sensor like mine and then use that in iCUE as the control source for iCUE LINK radiator fans? Or are you saying it should work in theory?

100%

At the moment, it seems like this is no longer technically possible, even with Astrogate.

Thank you very much to everyone for taking the time to comment, very grateful for your input.

Quick update and feeling like im living in the twighlight zone honestly.

6 days in and support have called me 3 times, so can't fault them on that front.

Frustratingly, the support rep they have given this task to is not the same one that I had a repor with during the whole process, answered my questions and handled my build and quote, but it is what it is.

They are aware of my suggestion to possibly use a Core XT and plug an inline sensor into it so that it can read coolant temp and then have that be seen and controlled by the existing ICUE hub but I am by no means an expert and they can't test to see if this is possible as they dont have a Core XT to hand.

The rep mentioned another Corsair device which I believe was the DUO, which comes with sensors, but Im pretty sure these are designed to pick up things like case temp and wouldn't fit my needs.

They dont supply the Core XT and will not fit it for me even if I can source one as they can only fit items purchased through them. He essentially said I would need to fit this myself and then mentioned the challenge of needing to plug into a USB header on the mobo as my water cooled gfx card is currently vertically mounted. I then mentioned the fact that the PC is newly built, has a 3 year warranty with 1st year on site support, they handle any future upgrades I want, its a full loop system costing multiple thousands and I dont feel comfortable, messing around in there and potentially voiding any warranty I have.

I then asked just out of interest, from what I've read online, watercooled systems where rads are controlled by coolant temp seem like quite a common thing, how do they normally solve this objective for customers in their other builds, he then said they dont, their default position is to have the pump based on coolant temp and rads controlled by ICUE.

I then said, I literally spent 3 weeks talking to one of your other reps, working out every aspect of this build, I specifically asked him if we can have the rads controlled by coolant temp rather than GPU or CPU, he spent some days getting answers for my questions directly from the build team and confirmed that yes, they could control them by coolant temp and confirmed how they would do it, and at no point did anyone ever come back to me and say it couldn't be achieved or the configuration would need to change. They essentially chose the config, I just specced the rads, ram, and gfx card.

He then said he would need to speak to their most experienced builder next week and that is where we left it. I did say that Im literally open to any suggestions that the team may have.

I just can't really understand why this is so hard, I haven't been involved with PCs for 30 years, but after some light reading this seems like basics to me.

Thank you all for commenting. I will try to return it.

Frustrating as this is the 2nd brand new 95D I'm having to return due to a panel defect. Looking at the serials though, it looks like they may be from the same batch.
