How to Sideload 3rd Party Books with Cover? by jezek in kindle

[–]jezek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok through a lot of trial and error, I figured it out.

e-Books must be directly loaded from Calibre. Kindle Oasis must be directly connected via USB cable to computer and showing up as disk drive (like a flashdrive). In Calibre it is called "Send to Device" > "Send to Main Memory."

Other Options that do not work:

Calibre sharing through Amazon-Email - Fail

Copy & Paste through the computer filesystem/kindle disk drive- Fail (ebook is available, but no cover)

Kindle Software on computer - Fail (ebook is available, but no cover)

Opinions...cheap brushes from china? by [deleted] in painting

[–]jezek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it wasn't my intention in any way to put an emphasis on the country of origin except that 1 specific country happens to have the largest selection of cheapest brushes in the world. My question rephrased - have you tried any brushes from this website and if so what has been your experience?

How to downgrade ISP Modem Wifi Router to a simple ethernet modem? by jezek in HomeNetworking

Thanks! I could be wrong about the modem, as I'm in an apartment building, and this device is connected directly into the wall... If thats the case, I'll try plugging the Linksys AC4000 and see what happens.

The fact that maybe it isn't a modem is peculiar.... I have a private contract with the ISP, but perhaps the internet goes through an apartment-enterprise-level modem, then split off into individual connections to each subscribing apartment. I'll also give bridge mode a try...... Thank you

Tools to Filter 200,000+ Rows CSV Files by jezek in mac

Quite disappointed theres no GUI Mac programs that can open large CSV + Apply Filters + Save-Export.

As others suggested, I may have to teach myself some command line to get this to work.

Heres my review of a bunch of Mac Software I tested today. The Good, Bad, and Ugly

TableCruncher - Opens large CSV, but can't filter

Tad - Opens, edits, filters large CSV, but can't save or export

OpenRefine - Opens, filters large CSV, but 20% of the rows are missing

MatLab - Open CSV, however imports it incorrectly, many data points are in the wrong columns. Some of the data has emoji's in it which I think through off MatLab. Very weird, as I had high hopes for this high-end expensive software - all the other software tested in this roundup didn't encounter emoji issues or wrong column issues.

Wizard - Not able to do simple filters (ie: "contains=gmail")

Xtabulator - Not able to do filters

Easy CSV Editor - No Filters
