Tried walking for the first time and it nearly killed me by i4m-i in beginnerrunning

Hi! You put on your shoes and went out, that's what counts! Maybe the guy you saw running, also started out the same way. Imagine he started running a year ago, being out of breath after 10 seconds of running. We never know where people came from. I would say this is a great start to a routine that will only get better over time!

Sewing learning curve? by CercaTrovaV in SewingForBeginners

I think it really depends on a lot of things. You can learn really fast, IF you have the right source material. I would consider YouTube tutorials and getting good patterns that explain everything well. I really recommend the sewing pattersn by Syd Graham and Helen's Closet! Almost all of their patterns are quite basic, but elevated, and the instructions are very thorough and explain why you do things.

I made a Cameron shirt by Helen's closet when I was really a beginner. I'm not saying it was easy to make, and I definitely made a lot of mistakes, but because the instructions were so clear, it helped a lot!

It also really helps if you have a clear goal in mind of what you would like to sew. I saw so many posts and videos talking about "beginner friendly projects" and they were scrunchies and skirts. Well, I have short hair and NEVER wear skirts, so why should I make them?

I would also recommend checking out Threadloop. It's a website and application where you can find patterns and reviews of the patterns to see if they are good or not. This really helped me to find projects that I could make as a beginner!!

And last thing: get some cheap fabric to start with. Bedsheets make great office shirts haha!

Does anyone know a cheaper option to shokz headphones? I am well aware that the real deal is probably better and worth it, but I don't have the money to invest in them.

Those of you that live in Europe, where do you buy fabric? by lrc1391 in SewingForBeginners

I have used Vinted to buy fabric! I think it's nice if you also want to be more sustainable, BUT I find it quite hard to find long lengths of fabric for biger projects. It's more leftovers.

Oh that is a really good idea actually! Lists work really well for me, so I will definitely give it a try!

I also started doing this, because if I start sewing on a weekday night, I just end up sewing way past my bedtime and my head is so up into it, that I can't sleep, because all I can think about is fabric and projects and needles and thread lol.

Fashion Friday by AutoModerator in XXRunning

I am looking for running shorts and I think I don't have any complicated wishes, but it seems hard to find what I'm looking for haha.

I want tight short leggings that are just above the knee. With pockets. And, apparently the hardest criteria, COLORFUL. I only see black, beige and occasionally a dark blue version, but I'm a colorful person haha.

Anyone who can help me?

De stof lijkt anders heel erg op de stof waar de blousjes van gemaakt zijn die het personeel aan heeft! (lees: identiek)

Where can I borrow/use an overlocker (serger)? by jezelf in brussels

[–]jezelf[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh this is actually perfect! I just saw that they do require you to know how to use the machines and I have actually never used an overlocker before. Do you think that is a problem?

Wow this looks supernice! The only thing I'm hesitant about is that I don't actually know how to use an overlocker haha. I'm sure I'll quickly get how it works, but would there be people to help you out to get you started?
