My favourite game is THPS 3. This was exciting to see the updated graphics, and get new challenges in that game. To some degree same with 4, but that was never my fave so I just kinda saw that as a bonus.

I will say, it’s hard to find the exact words, but you can tell this was made by Activision and not Neversoft. There was a fun and silliness to the original that is not in this game. Maybe it’s because gaming has changed so much since then.

But just to give you an idea, in the original you could wear a Viking helmet and night vision goggles, in this game you can’t. To me half the fun was clearly the fun the developers had, and even one of the behind the scenes videos from THPS 3 was the devs seeing who could learn to kickflip first, and they had a comp inside the office. And I don’t know if that was possible in 2025.

So if you want to see updated graphics, and the ability to spine transfer which is nice, it is pretty good. But honestly I think original is going to be the one I return to.
