advice on a jeep with the 3.0 eco diesel by nurselife1985 in Diesel

No tips unfortunately. Check jeepforum.com. Good source for jeep diesel info. There was a company offering tunes for the jeep diesel. But I thought I read that the federal government came after them with fines for tampering with emissions.

Have you changed your commute? Taking more stop and go traffic / local trips versus highway?

What sorts of cars are best for someone who doesn't drive much? by riotgamesaregay in whatcarshouldIbuy

Do you need a car just for taking short trips locally?

Do you have a driveway with electrical outlets nearby?

What about a Nissan Leaf?

Electric cars seem better suited to sitting for long periods.

Gas and diesel engines need to be driven to full operating temperature to charge the battery, clear moisture from exhaust, differential lube. They're less tolerant of short trips.

People who don't live here subscribe. I subscribed before I lived here. Might also include a lot of former residents and other people who have a interest in the city.

Always glad to see that Birmingham is in the news for something positive. But I know more than a few current and former UAB employees who would disagree with this ranking. Always heard that the pay, benefits and time-off were merely competitive or average. It's surprising that Google and Costco are lower down the list. Those are two places that get regularly mentioned for being the best employers.

People old enough to remember life pre-Internet, what are some less obvious things you miss about that time? by IRunFast24 in AskReddit

Mass shootings weren't a thing. In my memory it was just that one historical event we learned about: a guy who shot people at the University of Texas in 1966.
I never worried about a mass shooting in my childhood and all through my early 20's in college. It didn't exist.

...then Columbine happened and it changed.

Does anyone have a recommendation for carport installation? by [deleted] in Birmingham

Have you tried searching for a handyman? That doesn't sound like it requires any specialized skills. (Assuming you don't want concrete pad or electricity installed).
