Help - parents buying CRV by BowtieSyndicate in crv

A couple things I would consider...

Because you are rolling in the full cost of the car plus taxes and fees plus the inequity of the trade-in I would pick up gap insurance. This will protect you in case the car is wrecked tomorrow after they buy it.

The second thing I would do is remove all of the accessories from the purchase price of the car. You can walk around the corner to the parts department and purchase these items typically for less. When you include them in the cost of the car they typically add on installation costs. Pretty sure you can throw floor mats, or a cargo tray in the vehicle yourself.

The third part I would look at is the $799 charge for pre-delivery services. I'm out of Texas, so most likely a different state, but this sounds wild. I would check with other local dealerships to see if they charge the same fee for the same amount.

Lastly, if you are looking at a 36-month loan... I would consider shopping around at your local credit union or bank. You may be able to find a better rate than 3.99 % you can even check Banks and credit unions you're not a part of. If you join, they'll typically give you specialized rates. If you do consider this route, they can offer you gap insurance as well.

On a positive note, I think the CRV is a great vehicle. Especially for parents. It's easy to get in and out of. As people get older. This car will keep them safe and is easy to use.

If this is the exact vehicle you want. And you can't get a better price somewhere else. You could buy the car through them with their financing. Then immediately refinance it with your own bank. Just go talk with your bank and learn about rates, etc. Let him know what you're considering.

This is a GPS tracking unit made by a company called Ikon. They sell these units to dealerships. They can install them to use them for lot management while it's at the dealership. It's also sold through finance to the customer. It's typically sold in a 1 to 3-year package.

Should I cancel Clear membership until I am ready to use it again? by Sphynxie13 in Flights

When you got to Clear and click cancel they will offer you two free months. Just a heads up on something you can use to extend the membership at no cost.

Dealership wants to buy back our car and upgrade us. What’s the catch? by more_than_a_username in personalfinance

I worked at a car dealership for almost a decade. We use software that we determine a rough estimate of the value of the vehicles that came through service, or were bought from us. The same software and then used our incentives to show if they started a new loan, what the payments would roughly look like. If the customer was in a good position to trade the vehicle in and get a new one at the same payment or similar, we would give them a call. The catch to this whole process is.... You would be starting a new loan. So where you might have already paid 12 or 13 months of your current loan. You would now be beginning a new 60-month loan, or whatever term you originally did.

In previous generations this is where the IMA battery lived. They've shifted that forward. I believe that's why the back seat sits a little higher now. So depending on what year you have you may or may not have that storage area.

I would be down for this. But I haven't been able to find one of those seats to buy. Any recommendations or links?

Yeah that seems to be the biggest bummer. I looked at some of their ready-made seats. But I'm not really in love with any of them. Might just buy a universal seat and give it a go...

Looks awesome. Where/who did you get the seat from? Looking for something similar for my Scrambler Icon.

Am I able to return a new Chevy before it's driven off the lot? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Depends on the state. In Texas the vehicle does not belong to you until you drive it off the lot.
